Another UK Based Osa, at IWM Duxford, don’t know where they got it from, though the colour scheme may be a clue.
A Real Missile
Well, on the first page from its web site, An Ex Swedish AF guided weapons technical officer states his view of the HAWK in no uncertain terms.
Text on the picture of the Bloodhound being fired translates. A Real missile being fired, Not a HAWK or other toy. ๐ ๐ ๐
As for my own view, the RAF SAM’s were the BH and two fireworks called Rapier and Tigercat.
Additionally that pilot is under orders from the airforce as to what he can and cannot do, the Russian manufacturers test pilots probably are not. I have a suspicion that this is the reason I have never yet seen a truly impressive Eurofighter display (I have only seen about 4 though) yet the ‘experts’ tell us that it can pull out the stops, if required…………….
My Bro is at Coningsby and he says the Typhoon is a lot more capable than what has been seen at any air show, the reason being that the RAF have not pushed the display as hard as they could until they are up to speed in clearing the aircraft for everything that it can do. I’ve got to get up to Coningsby sometime in the next few weeks and hopefully Iโll be able to get a good look.
I dont see any tail on that sea animal how it came it made a hole on his chest!!
Its not called a Stingray for nothing and it has to deal with Sharks and Killer Whales that are a damm sight bigger than a human is. It is also a fish that will leave you alone if you leave it alone. ๐

I have to work tonight – tutoring in photoshop. Back later to add some more oddness.
A very worthwhile activity, believe me (the Path’s function on it is a godsend). ๐
Damm, knew I forgot something, 609, Typhoons, Matlaske, was going to meet Snapper at Legends in July until my car went a very major U/S.
However, trip to Dx this weekend was worth it, for besides meeting Dilip and Andy Long managed at last to find the serials of Coltishall’s Oxfords (and a couple of photos to boot) and confirm that a certain Blenheim IV was coded WM-Z when it crashed in June 1942.
Also, before departing for DX. I dropped into my Brother’s place to pick up some tools, while there, I was asked by my two nieces and their cousin if they could come to Duxford with me after complaining that there were going to be no more model kits as Airfix had gone broke. (Their mum is not too fond of the RAF or aircraft at the minute (Bro is on det in Jordan at the minute), hence she must have told them a little pork pie on that one, a piece of information that I corrected on the spot). I had to refuse to take them along as I was not going back to Norfolk that night. However, I promise Iโd bring something back and I did find this little model which these two girls will love (First attachment). Reason, they had a big model Hurricane to play with thanks to the one in the second attachment that their dad and myself built earlier (The big model was built for a lord mayorโs parade in Norwich during 1999. When I asked my brother if he was going to paint it as Baderโs aircraft, he reply was F@ck off, Iโm doing it as one of RSTโs Hurricanes, firstly as Tuck was also a CO of Coltishall and secondly because Bader was a C@nt. It won a prize in a competition during that parade and a photo of it was in the RAF News (where the Coltishall CRO (not the present one) described it as a Spitfire???? (Would not have minded so much, had it not been for the fact in the same photo was the replica of LE-D and the Battle of Britain Class Loco name plate โHURRICANEโ in front of the aircraft was clearly visible). Unfortunately, some vandals trashed the big model at while it was in storage at Cottersmore a couple of years later. )
Anyway they are going to love these models (two in the box).
SWEET ๐

Is there anyone who could use computer software to simulate a Mk V Spitfire losing it’s tail and the likely outcome to the airframe in the air?
Did Bader at any stage confirm he was flying inland when he got clobbered?
On reading a Free signed copy of Truthspeaker’s latest Book ๐ (Thanks Dilip, cracking read), yes he was (plus his ASI was U/S and had been from Take Off ๐ฎ , never knew that). As for the computer software, may work, but as one old Spit IX pilot I known always says ‘no two aircraft are the same’, hence any information you will get will be most likey worthless ๐ . All I have to do now is do a profile of the aircraft in question at A2 size, my old PII PC is going to be pushed ๐ฎ
Damn! Any word on crew?
๐ All Killed, 14 in total, 12 Royal Air Force, 1 British Army, 1 Royal Marine. I’ll be watching this one close, as know a guy who flys Nimrods.
Hey I can only interpret what my eyes see. ๐
Anyway its my birthday today and the alcohol is talking :diablo:
Happy B’day Fedaykin ๐
By the way as a point of note. Chaff looks like a ball of tinsel suddenly appearing out of the back of the plane. I first saw it come out of the back of an AMX, and the Zoo gunners were cursing the guy. ๐
Bright points of light coming out of the back of an combat aircraft with smoke trails are known as FLARES. ๐
Considering we are all posting more videos these days from various sites I felt it would be much neater if we had a dedicated Video Thread.
To start the ball rolling here is a very nice video I foung today on Youtube of an F-15 live fire exercise. I like the shot of the Aim-9 round being decoyed by chaff deployed from the drone and the final head on shot was nice.

Hey Fed, I think you would be a very rich man if you could design Chaff that would decoy a IR missile. would you like to rephase that sentance? ๐ Nice video and loved the music. ๐
Yep, an MR-2.
Deepest sympathy to all concerned.
Likely wise, MR2’s are operating out Oman as far as I know. The aircraft are being used as C3 platforms and to provide Radio re-boardcast for the ground troops in the hills.
As for flying from RAF Scampton, as it is still an active airfield I can’t see why the RAF/MoD would have any problems with the site being used for filming.
Can’t use the old briefing room, Old Boy, its now full of Scopies :diablo:
_. .. _ _ . _ _ . . ._.
They will probably just call the dog ‘boy’ in on screen conversation, or something similar so that they get round the name issue.
Humm, Comms officer at 5 Group HQ receives Dash, Dit, Dit, Dit. Dash, Dash, Dash. Dash, Dit, Dash, Dash. Jumps up in the air saying Boy, it a Boy. Doesn’t work, me thinks. ๐ฎ
Excellent
All we need now is the USAFE to restart the Air Fete, and we can have the narration, โFrom the left, the Avro Vulcan B2โ (followed by the winding up of 4 x Olympus and a small earthquake). ๐ฎ ๐ ๐ ๐
