WRC is far more fun filled – sadly it doesn’t have the ££££££ appeal…
The Scottish currency will be known as the “Eck” and will have Salmon’s head on both sides so the people of Scotland will never forget who led them to “freedom”…
Wouldn’t trust that tw@t Clegg as far as I could spit into a force ten gale….
Many Japanese are turning their backs on the consumption of whale meat as they realise they are out of step with the modern world and their palate becomes more westernised. It is only being continued due to the stubbornness of the Japanese Government – they pour millions into the whaling industry under the cover of ‘research’. They even have the skill to divert the funds to rebuild the communities affected by the 2011 Tsunami into the whaling fleets!
They are not, of course – but the Inuit and other indigenous natives that hunt whale and seal usually only take one whale per season for a whole village – they really do so with a full understanding of their responsibility to maintain a balance of nature.
The clubbing to death of Harp seal pups by Canadian fur sealers is just as barbaric as the whale/dolphin “hunts” – to provide what? Nice furs for the trendy woman about town to wear, while battling the harsh extremes strolling around, from high street store to 5 star eatery, when perfectly good alternatives exist?

It’s not racist or PC to condemn the mass slaughter of hundreds of whales or dolphins merely to provide a culinary extravagance for posh restaurants, rather than a real need to ensure your survival, in some of the harshest environment that man can try and live in.
Japan has a skewed vision of nature – they see beauty in an immaculately tended Zen garden, a perfectly formed Bonsai, the intricacies of the tea ceremony, yet they can slaughter, en masse, some of the most intelligent and beautiful creatures on the planet, without a second thought. For the dinner plate.
Can’t defend the actions of these officers – he posed no threat with the distance involved and they had less-than-lethal options in the bean bag rounds, had a dog in situ (which when released appeared to go for the thunderflash smoke, then seemed confused what to do next!) and no doubt had tasers available too.
Yet again the actions of a minority overshadow the work of many honest, dedicated professionals…
Working alone, in many cases with little hope of backup, are the officers of the US Forest Service – one such professional and his companion paid the price recently…

This is just in the Antarctic waters – they will no doubt ply their horrific “scientific research” elsewhere in the planet’s oceans. The outdated desire/right by many seafaring nations to eat whale meat and dolphin has no place in the modern world. The horrific methods of slaughtering family pods of dolphins, creatures which have high levels of intelligence and group bonds (as illustrated by snafu’s image above) puts those responsible on a indescribable level of barbarity.
Iceland, The Faroes, Norway to name just a few of those who still feel the need to murder Cetaceans in vast numbers…
This battle has been won for now but the war still goes on.
………..this one ?
Thanks, but I saw the mock up in the link in the original post – just having his head on one side would not be enough for the ego of “Wee Eck”, soon to be crowned King of Scotland, First Lord and Grand High Haggis Taster of All Caledonia – hence my point about it being on both sides.
Maybe with the fish names in the the leadership (Salmon(d), Sturgeon) they’ll call it the “Troot” or “Herrin” or maybe “Smokie” e.g. In keeping with decimalisation you’d have 100 Ecks in the Herrin – sounds like it would fit the bill!!!
I have family still living in Scotland (and friends) and I don’t think any of them are for independence – I can’t wait to see what will happen should the yes vote win and Orkney and Shetland then vote to remain linked to the rest of the UK. The SNP would have no option but to allow the islands a referendum on the matter….
Twisting my words to support your argument won’t work. I don’t approve of natives killing a whale any more than I do the Japanese. They should all be protected. Sharks and rays too.
I don’t eat dog – would never eat it. I have one as a companion and have worked with dogs most of my life.
I was vegetarian for the best part of ten years.
My niece is married to a Japanese and lives in Osaka with her two daughters.
I’d apply the rules across the board but you have to start somewhere and the state sponsored wholesale massacre of whales and dolphins on an industrial scale is a good starting point. We’ll get around to the “native Americans”, as you so quaintly call them, at a later point!
The car was covered in a brown sludge at the weekend – washed it off the car on Tuesday, after noting a favourable change in the wind direction, only for the-end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it-dust-zombie-apocalypse to be announced last night in a great swathe of dramatic/scary/run-n-hide purple and red over East Angular.
Checked the car just now and it is still clean – best I break out the old shemagh and desert wellies to walk the dog today, just in case….
If global warming is going to make us float off into the sunset, maybe the tables will be turned one day and humans will become the main course for the denizens of the deep?
I expect whalers could be high on the menu, next to Aquatic Park owners, for the old Orca….
I just hope that it complies with the European Sand Dimensions and Granularity Directive EU798/13/240/112/89370/SAND/1138

Only reason is so that PIL can line their pockets with yet more taxpayers money under the guise of ‘righting wrongs’.
If you can’t stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them….
