Current dog is a black Labrador bitch. She is a big softie and loves to greet people, ignoring their dogs if they are walking them, preferring to roll over at the person’s feet.
Was walking her one day a few months back and approaching the exit to a small wood I spotted another dog walker coming towards us along a track. I stopped just inside the wood exit with my dog on the lead to allow the other dog/owner to pass and this older man continued to walk towards us with his Staffie off the lead. As it got about 10 feet from us it rushed at my dog growling and came in and attacked from the rear latching onto my dog’s back leg. Without hesitation I struck this dog across it’s back with my “Leki” walking stick and shouted “NO” at it. The Staffie broke off and by now the bloke had caught up with what was happening and started to berate me for hitting his dog!
He grabbed his dog and stepped away while I checked my dog for injuries and as I turned back to have a go at the owner, he’d let go of his dog and it came in for a second attack. It didn’t make contact as my foot “got in the way” and it it circled around the back again but retreated back to it’s owner. I ripped him apart for failing to control his dog in a public place and his defence of “He’s normally ok with other dogs” was followed by the standard “He’s never done that before” load of ********.

In another example, years ago I was walking one of my Belgian Shepherds at 5am prior to going to work and she was attacked by an English Bull Terrier which appeared out of a field of corn – no warning. I have no doubt the owner walked it then, to avoid meeting other dogs, for the very reason it was prone to attack other dogs.

“Bull Terriers” are the latest must have accessory for some people – I have met a few and have yet to meet a single one that I would trust. There is one in the village that my wife has met while out walking the dog and she says it is well behaved, but oddly the owner carries a good solid walking stick – I wonder if he has that to defend his dog from other aggressive dogs?

Thankfully I live in a rural area so the majority of dogs are Labs, but they are not free from being aggressive towards other dogs though.

but with dogs it could be controlled more easily

Really? By who? The police? PCSOs? The Dog Warden? I rarely see the first, and never the second or third, around here.

And of course the roads are not full of unlicensed, uninsured drivers, some of whom have never had a driving lesson….

And the stupidity of his lawyer should be praised for even trying to excuse his clients driving…

“Alan Wheetman, for Cooper, said the defendant, who should be given credit for his plea, became “confused” by the driving manner of the ambulance and was “unable to pull over safely”.”

German lager is unbeatable. Nothing like the dishwater they serve under the banner of Lager in most pubs.
I vill be enjoying a nice cold Bitburger in a proper pilsner glass this evening with my meal. Shame it won’t be served by one of those lovely ladies who can deliver 8- 10 steins to your table in one go!!!!

    I haven’t even seen a hailstone the size of a cricket’s balls…

I used to watch A Kick Up the Eighties and loved “Kevin’s” rambling ‘investigations’ – just my sort of humour at the time….

    …your dog won’t

Bit unfair to all the ‘assistance/service dogs’ that on a daily basis mean that someone with a disability, no matter what their age, can lead some semblance of a normal life….

Assistance/service dogs have to have some down time, be it on the beach or in a park, and owners are taught how to let their dogs exercise off lead…
