Here is a quiz for you on climate change. It also contains a reference to the major troughers Yeo and Deben.

We need to rethink. For instance, if you suppose that the annual UN climate talks will save us, forget it. I met a delegate at the last talks in Doha in December who told me he had just watched a two-hour debate that culminated in placing square brackets around a semi-colon.
Even the EU is beginning to lose faith in spending billions on climate change.

Iceland’s government promises EU referendum
Iceland is getting a referendum on joining the EU, but it looks as if the majority are against it.

On another front, if Spain can get a derogation on immigration as happened last year, why not the UK?
Traditionally open to foreign workers, including those from the newest EU member states … the country has recently experienced a massive inflow of Romanian workers – from 388,000 in 2006 to 823,000 in 2010.
Romanians in Spain have been strongly hit by the rising unemployment levels, and 30% are now out of work, with 191,400 cases recorded in the first quarter of the year, second only to Spain’s own citizens.
Spain’s decision to open its job market to the workers from the two most recent EU member states, Romania and Bulgaria is irreversible, so its restriction on Romanian workers has been introduced in the form of a safeguard clause, limited until 31 December 2012.

The publicity material emphasises the emerging market angle. In particular, Africa is seen as the natural home for this aircraft, meeting the traditional rugged turboprop sector and feeding the increasing demand for business jet travel, as the African middle class prospers.

The large cargo door could be attractive in the existing Western sectors, too.

EU drops olive oil jug ban after public outcry
Phew! That’s a relief! I was afraid my local tapas bar would fold under this EU assault.
Seriously, this shows that in a small way the EU knows that much of what it does is a pointless waste of time.

Britain must succumb to EU’s new olive oil diktat, say officials
It has been confirmed that good Europeaners as we are, we must conform to the new regulations on Jan 1st 2014. I have already booked my table at my local tapas bar for New Years day, to celebrate the momentous achievement.

In other news this week, the EU asked the UK for an extra £700 million a year for its budget.

I despair!
I think the EU is a basically great idea which has managed to completely trundle off the rails.
Which still wouldn’t make me vote for a nasty, racist outfit like UKIP
Moggy
Well, I wouldn’t vote for whatever nasty/racist/homophobic/Marxist/traitorous/mysoginistic/corrupt/EU-sucking party you vote for, so there!
