No, i am not saing it is irrilevant, i say that an ureliable missile carried in large number and used, as stated by many sources in visual engagements is a waste of money.
sorry for the form of my post reply:(
And if they fired 2 missiles to every target it means that :
1
for exemple the F15 was so big and expensive because it had to carry ineffective missiles…
Yes, it is a far better record than the ones showed in Vietnam by E version, but the real problem is that the shots of gulf war were not BVR so the real need for radar guider missiles (with heavy and not cheap radars and so on….) seems strange to me;)
Actually the “S” was supposed to be for “Spey”. The Italians wanted to integrate it but the US said no. But you are still right about the Sparrow beeing used before the Aspide.

Interesting I believed S was only related to Sparrow, I also read it was meaning Super Starfighter.

Excuse me, but after 20 and more years during which every publication said that the Tomcat had long range and that the Hornet main handicap was short range, are you saying the the f 18 is better than f14?
I am not a skilled military pilot like you ( i am not a pilot or an engineer), so i don’t understand terminology you are using, can you explain better?
Thanks

(check Tyndall AFB for Mig 29) and please this time do not delete my post
Those were Moldovan 9.12s and 9.13s. Some were put on display that I know of, and I assume that the FULCRUM seen taxiing along the runway at Groom Lake was one of them as well.
If you go to Tyndall AFB with google heart, in the zone where are parked the QF4 you can see a Mig 23 and a Mig 29
