Sorry no pics inside YAM. They were just getting to the gates when I had to run.
I will try to get back soon for some more pics.

Flanker Man that model is something else. I just read the whole of your build thread on the other site. The work put into it is incredible, the attention to detail and accuracy amazing !

Please start posting your work in our modeling section.

    Looks realy good Blue 2.
Will we be getting any more restorations sourced from Hindenburg on this thread. Who`s been swapping ?
I fancy the SR71 but dont have anything worth having to swap.

Thomson seem to be doing a lot to help their stranded customers. The cost of alternative travel and a hotels must be huge and is on top of their lost revenue from canceled flights. I dont know what other companies are doing but this a fantastic response to a problem that is obviously not caused by them. Lets hope they can afford it !

I dont know but I would think the Nimrod will be on the museum site. It is more secure and the airfield does not belong to the museum. There are large gates in the museum fencing and a taxi way conecting the museum to the runway. That is what they do with the Victor.

Read this http://www.aaib.gov.uk/cms_resources.cfm?file=/dft_avsafety_pdf_501760.pdf and form your own judgement.

That was a very interesting read. Although its a pain that so many spaces are missing between words. (but who am I to judge somebody elses writing)

I read through the report and tried to overlay it on my own memory. I now have a much better understanding of what happend. One thing it has reminded me of is, while watching the display I could hear someone to the side of me saying “that sounds fantastic” or words to that affect. I thought it sounded terrible.

Any way, the pilot came out Ok and the aircraft is now on display. Thats all that matters.

Sorry about the Black 6 thread drift.

I thought so too. I can not remember the reg but it was a re-engined Buchon with a black spiral spinner and an unusual (single piece side glazing) canopy.

The Elvington Dakota should be ready to taxi by the end of this year/early next year according to the restoration team. Thats probably enough to be getting on with for now.

I agree with 27Vet. Its the crime that puts me off !

South Africa is some where I have always wanted to go. There are a few things I would like to see there. The Lightnings and Buccaneers (obviously), Table Mountain, the great Whites off the Cape ect.

…. but its to dangerous. Its not terrorists or extremist parties, its the crime on the streets. I dont want to be beaten and have my arm chopped off just for my watch, lose my life for the car I am in or be mugged by a gang of street kids !

I have been looking around a few travel story/advice websites. Some people who are there or have been there are saying that recently policing and security has been stepped up, especially in the major cities. Hopefully this will make things a little safer during the World Cup. Although I fear a small group of England fans or other foreign nationals will go looking for trouble and probably bite off more than they can chew.

As for a terrorist threat, it does not stop people using the bus, train, tube, airlines, everyday, and I dont think it will stop people in this case.

Any way…… Girlfriends dad will have his new 60″ TV in time for the World Cup so thats me sorted:):):):):):)

Hope you rinsed it and not wiped it Blue2 or you could have a few scratches.

We had quite a few GA types around Howden yesterday, a few Breighton residents. I saw a couple of bi planes, possibly Jungmiester/s.

I was there to see its last flight. It was a real shame about the accident but at least the pilot got out OK. I read somewhere the pilot asked the rescue crew not to damage the aircraft getting him out. The airfield rescue crew were off site which brought all flying to an end. I was waiting by the Rapide for my first ever flight. I had to wait another year.

I wonder if the EADS aircraft will be taking part in the Waddington Battle of Britain sequence.

Kill a shark to put it in a museum. Does not make sense. If you were to have a shark museum surely it would be because you love sharks. So why kill it ? The only reason I can see is that its actually a museum of `look what I can do`, `look how big my …. is`.

Would have been a good idea to put it in a large, professionally run aquarium where it could be studied or used to educate the public. Thats if it needed to be taken at all.

This is not like me, I`m no eco geek. Must be time for bed !
