Aircraft Carriers are like floating air bases used to project power beyond your own borders, China doesnt need an ACC vs Taiwan when Flankers or J-10s can just fly straight to Taiwan, bomb it and fly back cuz it is pretty close to the mainland and they have the necessary range, I dont see a point of a Aircraft Carrier unless China wanted to bomb the crap out of Hawaii or somewhere else way beyond it’s borders.

for US carriers they will have F/A-18s in the future and F-35Cs, the Super Hornets will be assigned for air defence role and F-35Cs for strike missions. I dont see why the Naval J-10 or Mig-31 cant stand up to those 2. Mig-31 is one of Russia’s most sophisticated planes and I am not sure they’d sell it to China.

The Backfire would be a great addition to the PLAAF and PLAN but can they use them properly really? US shouldnt retire their Tomcats so soon, it would be good if they could be used for another while because in case China has Backfires and US doesnt have Tomcats, US carriers are in trouble, that is if China finds them.

Guys lets say they build a twin seat twin engined naval J-10, how would this go up against the air defence Super Hornets? Can the normal J-10 now stand up to a Super Hornet? The F-35 as it seems will mostly be set for strike missions.

I think China should build more than one Carrier, not 2 and should properly defend them.
