forget F-16 because India will never get blk50 or AIM-120 with it however M2K and Mig-29 are obviously the only real good options.

India already operates both of them so either of them but I’d prefer Mig-29, obviously both of them are somewhere similar in capabilities Mig-29SMT or M/M2 is A LOT more cheaper than M2K, IN will also operate it.

If you really compare them you’d see they are similar in performance, but just because of the cost Mig-29 overall.

Russia ordered Mig-AT? I thought they picked Yak-130 only.

By the time Eurofighters are in the operational units in some meaningful numbers (100 +) USA will have operational F-22 (10:1 kill ratio for F-22) and Russia will finish PAK-FA prototype. Lets say that PAK-FA will have 50% F-22 capability , and in that case, let’s say kill ratio will be 5:1 for PAK-FA. Because PAK-FA will be cheaper than F-22 Russia might have some good export deals, so potentially PAK-FA will be widespread and it will be quite possible that Eurofighter will come across PAK-FA so UK pilots might find themselves fighting loosing battle. For UK will be better either to buy F-22 or to develop new aircraft, on its own, without cooperating with any other country.

, PAK-FA is still in the drawing stage, how can you say that it will have 50% capability of F-22, and where did you get that 10:1 ratio of F-22/EF2000? What kind of crap is that

I think we should blame the governments participating in the EF2000 program, I mean the changing requirements etc, EF2000 could’ve been in service by like 1995.

But this program is good because it gives EU a plane of their own and their own aeronautic industry.

well I wouldn’t be surprised if NK wanted the FC-1, they would get their hands on anything, FC-1 is cheap and could be built in large #s in NK, and provides a cheap BVR capability against SK’s F-15s, F-16s and T/A-50s, of course they would be waxed probably against any of them.

maybe they want to replace all the Migs and Jags with LCAs and some other new fighter

if they want something with medium weight that rules out Flankers, meaning Mig-29s and M2Ks will be the real competitors, and don’t think F-16 has ANY chance because AIM-120 will never be offered or the more advanced blk50.

    It’s either Mig-29 or M2K.

BTW how long have Indian Mig-29s been in service so far and how long have M2Ks been in service so far?

yes the F-35 cant fill that deep strike role, it is too short ranged for it not to mention it’s size of internal bays is pathetic, it only has 4 internal hardpoints.

It looks like Poland won’t have any major upgrades for their Mig-29s because of their current politics they don’t want to do anything with Russia.

Mig-29SMT is just as capable as F-16blk50 but they won’t upgrade it.

They will serve until 2015 when they will be replaced by something else, something newer.

why ius 4:1 too much? it is perfectly possible, I am just wondering how the whole exercise went and how this “4:1” kill ratio went on and how it was achieved.

Be it Indian, Pakistani, American or Welsh, I don’t think that attack helicopters will survive in this century, with manpads and tanks like the T-90 being capable of launching missiles at them, I don’t see a future for those slow machines.

    Agreed
