What about meeting somewhere like the gatehouse. It will be less crowded round there, and forumites will be more conspicuous
Given the speed with which some of the threads on here degenerate into pitched slanging matches the cells in the guard house might be more appropriate. I’ll get me coat!
Well I fervently hope that at least some of those being “disposed” of are offered to interested parties for preservation. It would be nice to see one fast taxing at Bruntingthorpe for instance and I’d happily accommodate one in my front garden if they have one going spare:D
Despite it being a few years since operating any relevant types I thought you meant the other FAA!:o
Oh good not just me then!:D
As the ex-Swiss Hunter has been gone for a while, is the mentioned Hunter the resident 2 seater? I didn’t think that this had it’s engine run yet?
The two seat hunter slow taxied last august and (i might be wrong but) may now be ready to fast taxi this time round. all credit to Bob and Geoffrey for all the hard work. she looks and sounds a real treat!!!
Ernie drove a milkcart, Arnie flew the DC-4….;)
Awesome!!! The fastest milk cart in the west mind!!!! wonder how many knots?
Very interesting. It deserved more air time if you ask me, it would have been nice if they had expanded on the pilots bomber carear, but thats the telly for you. did the engine yeald any clues as to the cause of the crash?
Thanks will give it a watch, there is a similar story of a P47 that crashed on the outskirts of nantwich and a rather touching memorial on the site down by the river.
OK i stand corected, but rockhoppers right when you see footage of a/c flying of british carriers I’ve seen somthing hit the water infront of the bow as the a/c gets airborne
I think they called them a bridle, and yes they where a disposable item. Id warrant that the channel and irish sea are full of em!
Oh for crying out loud!!!! What is it with you lot? Matt has clearly stated that Tinas new colour was what was found on her! it doesent matter in the slightest what you may remember or what your mate down the pub says the fact is she was painted desert pink at some stage i know this to be true because i saw it with my very own eyes while i was helping rub her down.
What he said! and for that mater what he did since I also saw it with my own eyes while helping to rub her down. while many here where sat at their keyboards being pedantic and whineing while historic airframes rust and rot away all over the country. stop grumbling get off yer ar*es and put your energys into protecting all the wonderful aircraft that have to live outside from the elements. or at least give thanks (and credit!) to those fantastic blokes who give up their time to do so on your behalf. In the case of XM715 John, N, and Matt Walton deserve a great deal of credit as do so many others! lets not loose sight of how important these efforts are to our avation heritage.
for those who might be interested here is a picture from the cherry picker take just after the tail had been painted.
XV226 on the pan.
