My trusty D60 will see me good for a while longer (19000 actuations on the shutter so far):

Sharpness is mainly down to lenses (and in the case of digital to an extent post-processing technique) and I’ve put my recent investment into severeal L-series lenses – anyone thinking of going digital would in my opinion be better advised putting the money into lenses in the first instances, and maybe picking up a now very cheap but still very capable year or two old body.

880 was the aircraft used to comemorate ??th anniversary of the first trans-Atlantic service by 707, from JFK to Paris Le Bourget – can’t remember which anniversary but it was just before PA retired the 707 so it might have been something like 30th, but whatever it was 880 was repainted for that event so that it looked “period” to represent the first service aircraft, and then shortly after retired to Davis Monthan.

Directors have come and gone at BMI with monotonous regularity over the years – it just depends on how long their face continues to fit for. However, I must admit that Austin’s premature departure is a surprise as I thought he had become one of the time-serving stalwarts. Nigel has certainly had a meteoric rise, and its interesting to see that Alex [F***ing] Grant is coming back from exhile (or was it toughening school) at Regional!
Oh well, time will tell whether it was a good shuffle or not!!!

This is largely irrelevent and nothing new as far as Cessnas and suchlike are concerned. Legally, such single engined aircraft are required to be able to glide clear of populated areas if the engine stops, so to all intents and purposes overflights of central London have been out of bounds for many years anyway (and on odd occasions the CAA have prosecuted for such flights in the past anyway).

It had nothing to do with the girl at checkin – you got “special” treatment because you booked a one way ticket at short notice, which in the US that’s guaranteed to earn you and your bags closer examination than normal.
Nice report.

It was also known as the C-93 in US military service, and a number were owned by Flying Tiger Line. Further information, for those so minded:
