There are two possible reasons for this ongoing problem with AlphaOne as far as I can tell. Either:
a) The entire thing is largely a work of fiction, or
b) The company has been largely incompetent in that it has regularly publicised what it plans to do before it has the means to do it
In terms of fitting the Junkstreams with TCAS II/ACAS, the requirement mandating its fitment to aircraft over 5700KG take off weight came into effect on 1st January 2005 (i.e. over a year ago) so the requirement to fit it should hardly have come as a surprise had the background work for the business plan been done properly. And I find it bizarre, for example, that Eastern Airways manages to keep operating Jetstream 31s and does not have its entire fleet grounded in their hangar, whilst AlphaOne has been unable to operate theirs.
Thus, this “excuse” merely serves to further justify the contention I make above regarding the reasons for AlphaOne’s continued failure to establish a reliable air service.

I should’ve know there would be a newer one by now! After all, it’s been a whole 4 days since DLE was delivered! 😉
Actually, -DLG is ferrying BFI-YYC-DUB today too! 😀
Andy
It’s the newest in the fleet I think, in service 10th Feb 2006!
Not quite! 😉 -DLF should have arrived at DUB by now! :diablo:

Now could be “ramp superintendant ” or something equally eloquent.
Ramp superintendant??? 😮 Never heard such politically correct non-sense! Next, they’ll be calling them “the fat controller”! 😀
Marshaller I say.
B****r – three replies all in the same minute!

Ummm… I think you might me talking about a marshaller

Pretty unexciting – just as I expected, for the most part highlighting issues that were designed to alarm the uninformed traveller but come as no surprise to anyone who has been exposed to the inside of the industry. Issues like how they deal with employees should come as no surprise to anyone who reads around the industry. Sure, C4 might have highlighted a few issues that probably need to be sorted, but that’s about it. I worked directly in airlines for 11 years, and I have seen worse done by more “reputable” airlines. Don’t get me wrong – I hate Ryanair and have no intention of flying with them, but nothing I heard tonight would put me off or concern me if I were to fly with them (other than sitting in the “sick” seat maybe!).
Andy
A bit long-winded but interesting all the same.
And does any of it surprise you? Maybe a few issues that need to be addressed, but much of what C4 claim they are going to say about Ryanair seems very much like issues that arise at any airline from time to time. To be honest, having read the correspondance, my expectation of the program is that it is going to mostly be sensationalism aimed at trying to alarm a non-informed audience.
I absolutely loathe Ryanair and its business practices and I look forward to anything that takes a swipe at the airline, or more particularly at its boss. However, if there really are any smoking guns at Ryanair, I suspect that they’d have been better addressed by sending in truely informed / industry aware investigators. Of course, that might not have been so easy for C4, nor may it have made such good television (the mission for which, after all, is primarily entertainment).

One of the true characters of the industry… Never mind Skytrain though, who remembers the Carvair and the Accountant?

One of the posts on a.net recently suggested bmi have objected.

Nice pics… Should have come today though – VDA AN124 RA-82042 and Volare AN12 UR-LAI both in this afternoon!

G-BEOL is based in Belgium, but occasionally comes to the UK when there’s a big boogie on somewhere. It has a blue lower fuselage:

The two based at Oxford, G-PIGY and G-BVXW, which are operated on a para dropping contract at Weston on the Green (which ends this April, I believe) have a blue cheatline and a white upper and lower fuselage.

When I had a totally duff card (see above), the actual cause was that I pulled the card out of the camera whilst it was still writing an image, in my haste to replace a full card and carry on shooting – easy mistake to make in one of those rush, rush lots of photo opportunities moments. This act on my part effectively *******ed up the file allocation table on the card, making it unreadable by any device whether camera or PC. The software that I recommend you try certainly cut through all of that and rescued everything on the card – even the half-written image that the camera was trying its damnedest to complete writing when I so rudely interupted its otherwise rather benevolent act!

2 Shorts 260s
If fact, come to think of it, they’re not Short 260s either! :dev2: 😉 😀
Very sad.
BTW, they’re SHORT 360s, not SHORTS 360s… One Short 360, two Short 360s. You don’t say Boeings 737, do you…?
