Dunno right now, but according to an article in Flight International CO ordered 11 shipsets for 757s (I thought it was 12 – shows what I know!) and all 11 were due for installation by the end of 2005.

I flew on SAS Eurolink F.50 OY-KAG Gothenburg-Copenhagen on 9th February 1994 during a trip to Gothenburg – I seem to recall specially planning coming back GOT-CPH-AMS-EMA rather than a more simple route so that I could try out a Fokker 50 for the first time! π

I think that they should name one “Martin Halstead” – more likey to fly than… Nah, nah, nah, can’t get into that again! π

Fantastic – its a Transavia Airtruck. I’ve never seen one but would very much like to!

“I sincerely wish you all the best and hope you donβt let any immature narrow minded individual put you down in any way. You have done so well to get this far and deserve to go further.”
The comment above from Mr.Business reveals how little he knows about the plans and prevarications of AlphaOne to date.
The reply from Mr.Business should be removed from the forum, as should all references to it. It is ironic and sad that we’ve been told time and time again that we cannot make personal attacks on the people behind AlphaOne, and yet when Mr. Business’ makes attacks – calls people on this forum “narrow minded” and “immature” – the reply is left in situ.

Yes, it will be clearly visible (but maybe not easily photographable) from the Nags Head road as its staying on the Cargo West (DHL) ramp for the duration of its stay – its parking location will be change a few times over the next few days and whilst its currently not on an official stand (its parked behind a Polet 124 to keep it out of the way for this evening’s DHL rush) it is planned that it will be moved again tomorrow.

You pay your money, you take you chance.
Indeed – pay peanuts, get treated like monkeys
Come back BA, all is forgiven! π

Kabuki – please see previous post from me regarding the camera kit
Paul – thanks… Trip was for pleasure this time, although paid for with air miles and hotel points accumulated on business trips! π
Clear at BHX and EMA – but strangely, EMA seemed to be testing all the snow clearing equipment yesterday (usually the snow falls and then they find the equipment won’t go because it hasn’t been used all year!)

How is it that Ryannair can afford to charge 1p for seats…?
A few months ago I had to go to Franfurt, the following day. RYR to Hahn was more expensive than either BA or LH to FRA – and with RYR, I then had to pay extra for the bus to Frankfurt, and for any refreshments. If I remember correctly, Ryanair wanted around Β£290 return whereas BA and LH were both around Β£250. You have been suckered by the same Ryanair rhetoric as many others, thinking Ryanair is always a cheap option when in fact it isn’t – you only see the headline low fares.

Ok then, so who can explain CO’s SNN flight diverting to EDI today then?
I am not familiar with CO’s UK diversion policy but it will be a combination of:
* Where is forecast to be above limits
* Crew base to allow the return flight to operate
* Ground base to allow the flight to be handled relatively easily
* Airborne en-route and holding fuel requirements
* Operational slot availability
* etc, etc as I said above
It could be anything including [for example] DUB might be marginal or below limits, MAN might not have terminal/gate/ground handling capacity, GLA has no 757 qualified crews available, no operational slots available at LGW, the only crews at BHX were needed for their own flights, etc, etc, etc.
Bottom line, airline dispatchers will select the most convenient nominated diversion based on a variety of considerations both operational and commercial. Even then, if the planned alternates are not viable on the day, the operating crew will make a definitive decision as the flight progresses.

So if there is the strikes go ahead at BHX where will the traffic go?????
Depends on airline policy… For example, Emirates and PIA are likely to go to MAN or LHR (if they can get a slot) because they have staff / handling contracts there, BA often use MAN as an alternative to BHX for the same reason, but Ryanair will probably go to EMA. Past couple of days indicates FlyBe isn’t averse to using EMA, but further back they’ve used CVT if its available. Scandi used to use EMA, but a while ago a major f**k up caused them to prefer MAN.
And so it goes on with each airline having their own plan…

Interesting pics… Its changed a bit since I was there a few weeks ago.
747-G-BDXE(FOR THE AXE MAN)
Nope, in for removal of an engine and storage pending resale because of a lack of space at BOH.
