It was discussed in the IAF thread recently although there was no comparison made. The ACES should atleast be equal to it (or why the talk about the F 16IN being better than the Block 60)

The ACES is already selected for the F 16 IN.

Latest HAF F 16s don’t have CFTs ? Or are those to be installed later ?

Did I understand you the right way? You want to put components from LCA into superior aircrafts and not the other way around? What LCA components would be useful in MMRCA?

Well most other aircrafts will come with better things than what is already in the LCA. The Mig 35 would have to be MKIzed like the Su 30. So you can expect Rwrs, Mission computers, ECM and other things that is indigenous

The United Arab Emirates said last year it was considering replacing its fleet of 60 French Mirage combat planes with Rafale jets, in a deal that could be worth between six and eight billion euros (eight to 11 billion dollars).

60 Planes @ 11 billion. I think it is unfair to expect the EF or Rafale for the MRCA to come below the 15-16 billion mark. F 16 & Gripen should be worth betting on.

And add another type to IAF? What would be the advantage?

The Mirages are already going to be upgraded and kept in service are they not ? So it is retiring a type and inducting another in its place. 😉

Why not exchange the 50 odd Mirage 2000s (upgrade is expensive anyway) for Rafale F3s 🙂

The fact that the Tigers were annihilated as a fighting force in the past year pretty much attests to the fact that the current SL government doesn’t consult with India for its own security — unlike the governments in the first two decades of the war.

Its a petty poor claim. Actually the Lankans were discussing with the Norse with regards to the peace process and all. India actually intervened to aid Sri Lanka and not against it. Get your facts right.

Sri Lanka is a buffer zone between India and whom? Who is on the other side of Sri Lanka?

Every nation around India except Bhutan has a patron elsewhere outside the subcontinent. We see it in their armed forces.

I said buffer zones or spheres of influence. As for China being the patron of India’s neighbours well may be true in some cases. But in the case of Sri Lanka, Nepal etc, they can only swing that way that much. They remain well with in India’s sphere.

India did intervene first arming the Tamil terrorists and then by landing its Army.

You know what happened, Those terrorists raised by Indira the former PM killed her son Rajiv. In case of IPKF, both Lanka and tamil terrorists joined in massacre of 1000 Indian soldiers.

Believe me, no Indian leader would like to repeat the same.

Its funny that the Tamils weapons of choice were always Chinese and European.

Actually the Sri Lankans Armed forces did nothing against the IPKF. It had to face the tamils and it was not a popular move back in India. It is a bit like Russians sending their army against slavs elsewhere. If there was real political will in India’s part with regards to the elimination of the Tamil rebals, it would have achieved the task long ago.

both Lanka and tamil terrorists joined in massacre of 1000 Indian soldiers

That is not true, it is disgusting and insulting to both Sri Lanka and India.

Aint the Russian AWACS and the Chinese ones based on the same platform. There are a few picutres of the Chinese AWACS in the PLAAF thread. I like the Indian paint scheme though.

Is the deal signed for the next 3 AWACS ? After the first 3 ie,

This is very good news. Actually what USS said would be a good way to move forward keeping your stuff sourced from different sources.

I do concur with him, that you seems to be the same Nick_76. Welcome back and be little respectful to the members.

That respectful part may be true.

But I suspect you are a new incarnation of some one else as well :). How would you otherwise relate to Nick who must have been gone for some time now.

I think you should drop your abusive behavior towards forum members, if you want to stay little longer this time.

Teer brings a lot to the forum but sometimes his abuses far outweigh his contributions. He would be really good if he stopped abuses and personal attacks.

I think if this decision came a bit early the P-1 would have been a great alternative for the P 8s that India bought.
