You don’t even need to continue after this nonsense… Nobody except few nations thought it was the right thing…. and even those few nations only expressed stances of their respective governments, not the population.

My country, for example, too, belonged to the ‘Coalition of the willing’, guess what was the REAL support of its population for this war? Less than 20%…

I only meant majority in America. Bush’s approval rating was very high, the move had congress approval and partisan support, even liberal media bought the WMD claim.

As for the other coalition members and smaller nations, there is a price you pay to be a part of a coalition and that price is to act on the whims of the dominant partner. 🙂

I do not believe that there was any WMD in IRAQ, I do believe that Americans will benefit from the war in future. Just my personal opinion the latter.

I know but no one plays fair and no one likes to lose their sphere of influence. I really think it would either be peacefully resolved between China and Taiwan with high autonomy for the Thais or a conflict in which America will be involved (the scale of which may be small) Purely defensive etc.

It is not easily penetrable as long as American carrier strike groups remain there.

Not sure if I agree there, but I’d put it at 100:0 in favor of we should not intervene in any capacity in China’s internal problems. If we don’t recognize Taiwan as an independent nation then we have to concede that they are in fact still part of China, making this therefore an internal problem for China to handle as it sees fit.

In that case why not stop supplying Taiwan with arms. 🙂 why not remove the Carrier groups from what would be China’s territorial waters…(ie. if its an internal issue)

Iran would be an example of an irrational player not on a level with us. Do you think they are truly able to offer symmetric resistance? It’d be a walkover.

Iran will not be a walk over. They can arm most of their young men and then it will really be a tough war to win. Bombing the **** out of them is another thing.

That would be an interesting test. I don’t share your viewpoint though. I consider it likely that we’ll hear loud protest, and not much more. I’d put it at 60:40 in favor of the US not intervening.

I think there will be U.S involvement from the onset, just a loud protest will signal a change in the world order, which will not be acceptable to America and 70:30 for U.S intervention afaic.

I’m not saying that battles are never going to happen again or have become impossible. But I do think that major theaters with large-scale symmetric warfare are as unlikely as they haven’t been in the last 3000 years before and they are growing increasingly unlikely with every year. If I had to bet money now, I’d put it on “US not going to war with either Russia or China in the next 50 years.”

Battles will happen, Wars like Vietnam, Iraq etc will come and go as will border wars between countries. I believe the next Major ‘symmetic’ war will depend a lot on U.S policy in the pacific and China’s line in dealing with Taiwan. We may as well see a peaceful accession with self governence.

Unless you want to talk about the Big Water Wars of 2050.

I think there would be major skirmishes in the sea over the polar transit.

2050 will be the start of the Space War in moon. 🙂

Money is not everything. Why did America go to war with Iraq and the majority thought it was the right thing then ( in 2003 ) and is still suffering from the financial burden.

In your ideal world your theory makes sense, but the world is hardly ideal, sometimes nutters take over, sometimes a conflict in interest is so large that unless you go to war your countrys pride is shaken.

    Iran situation is one example.

The Taiwan issue further down will be another. If Taiwan is attacked America cannot and will not standby i feel.

We all know what Chamberlain and the likes of him did during the 1930s, your thinking is in that line. When you need to draw a line, you must draw a line, even if that means war and related implications. The leaders of the world know this, hence the build up of millitary.

We may as well stop making planes and imagine what we can do to counter terrorism with an F 35 sized budget.

Wishful thinking that Satorian. WW1 was considerd the war to end all wars. 🙂

I think it will be suicidal for the Europeans to **** off Americans in a bigway at a time when Russia is resurgent.

Being sold a version of an aircraft whoes capabilities are in question in the first place does not mean you have something world leading.

F/A-18 E/F overweight version of its younger brother with poor aeroperformance and structural issues, designed for carrier deck landing.

Whoop ti dooo india is being sold the most advanced version of the F-16! Also lets see the aircraft before you say its more advanced then the UAE one. Were are not being offered the F-16XL or X-31. No matter how much I “pimp” my mountain bike its still a mountain bike I wouldnt take it to a race against a Duccatti!

with the rest, until India gets it and it proves to be more advanced then the saudis their is no point in commenting.

Rafale F3, troubled programme which urgently needs sales to keep its production lines profitable. Not world leading..

As for the Eurofighter, how would it be more advanced then the Saudis’ Eurofighters? And how many minutes do you think it will last befire the Saudis spend a few more billions and get an upgrade?

It is a more than capable fighter with excellent strike capability. The Australians have ordered it because its very good, unless you want to believe Aussie Airpower idiots.

Watch Fast an the furious where the ‘pimped up’ Toyota Supra beats the Ferrari :diablo: Also many custom built bikes can beat any Duccatti, if you are willing to get the right components.

Please give me one source that says the Rafale production line is going to be closed unless it wins a major deal. It is the best all rounder in the MRCA.

If the saudis can improve it so can we. Do you think the Spending power of India by the time it needs an MLU is going to be any less than these gulf states ??
