What advantage would they pose over Su-33s if not. I also don’t think they are developing the Zhuk-AE just for the MIG 35.
On second thoufhts it looks like the F 35 more than the F 22

Its twin engined but even the rear is more similar to the F 35 than F 22

Not really. The GW Bush administration gave the Israelis the green light to take as much time as needed. In the first Lebanon War (1982) the Israelis took a mere 2 days to advance from the border to the Litani River (20 miles distance). During the 2nd Lebanon War (2006), the Israelis were held in check at the 5 mile mark for 34 days, despite they had complete air superiorty and overwhelming firepower on the ground. This is probably due to 2 reasons. First, Hezbollah were using modern ATGMs(Anti-Tank Guided Missiles). Both for stopping 65 ton Merkava tanks(using tandem shaped-charge warheads), and for killing Israeli infantry hiding in abandoned concrete buildings(using thermobaric warheads). The second reason is the inability for Israel infantry to sustain a long-term offensive campaign. I’ve seen a photo in the front page of SF Chronicle showing an Israeli soldier crying. And there are stories of Israeli soldiers calling home using their cell phones. Probably to tell their parents to call on the politicians to stop the war. The IDF put a stop to this by removing all cell phones in the recent Gaza war.
There are other reasons too. The increased civilian population is one. The use of ‘human shields’ is another. Choosing a civilian area for militant operations is yet another. Moderate government in Israel is one reason. If Nethanyahu was in power I have no doubt that both these wars would have lasted much much longer. 🙂
The point is the video was not embedded here. Users have a choice of clicking the link and the clicking the play button etc.
I understand, may be that is the reason why only the MKI was selected from the current IAF fighters.
I hardly see the point of launching such an enormous draggy missile from a fighter. Won’t we be better developing, buying something that is built for the job.
I kind of like the show although its a bit biased. Israel selling us state of the art weapons is good to see, shows the level of co-operation between the countries. We need a lot more of those to deal with the terrorist threat.
So Mig 29Ks instead of Su 33s. Hmm AESA equipped Ks should be really capable. 🙂

Who said India is a protector of Israel
India needs to strengthen its police force and special forces, no disrespect to them the NSGs and others were poorly equipped, this will not happen again.
QUOTE]
You did and I quote: “India and U.S administration can be belligerant with anyone who harms Israel”
Either you are a kid, have a memory issue or lives in a fools paradise. Pakistan supported terrorists have been attacking inside India since the 1980s. The Police had Enfields in the 80s and they still had Enfields outside the Taj Mahal Hotel in 2008.
I don’t think you have ever lived in India and you are setting yourself up for great disapointment.
Blaming everything on a foriegn state is not the way. We need to tighten up our security and we cannot blame anyone for that. After 9/11 there has not been a single attack in the United States, and the UK have foiled at least half a dozen terrorist plots after the train bombings.
Us being unable to solve the problem from 1980s onwards just shows our incapability more than anything else.
😉
I find those youtube clips distastefull, i have served in the Army and seen what kind of damage weapons like these can do..
Mod, plz remove that video from this tread.
Thanks.
That clip does not show humans being shot at.
It is no different from a video about a fighter, considering it can cause far more damage than a gun.
Its a discovery channel show certified PG. 😉
Really? What’s the solution for the nose gear?
Logan Hartke
I am not sure what you mean by nose gear. Here it says that the Sukhoi will need modifications of the fuselage. Its a huge missile and I think only a single one can be carried at a time. This should also mean that its carried under the fuselage.

There is an article on the News Thread which says that the Brahmos will only be cleared for IAF by 2012. Two reasons are given.
1. The Su 30MKI the chosen carrier will need modifications in order to carry the Missile as of now several ac are being sent to Russia for the mods.
2. The original version is too heavy for an air launch, now they have made it much lighter with a smaller booster motor.
I think the SH, Viper and Rafale may be able to carry it under the Fuselage with some mods.

Scooter, PAK FA will be more A2A and MCA more A2G.
It looks raptorish, need more stealth down the backend tho.
Yeah it would almost be the same as the Russian version and not a watered down version unlike some users here claimed…..:)
Yep I think the SH could do it.
MCA concept Wind Tunnel Model.
