Ante_ you can’t have the F-16IN as a fave. It’s not allowed. Besides, that’s an imposter (like the MiG-35;))
Where’s the Rafale? Do 4 Eurofighters turning-up increase their chances 4-fold? I like this schoolyard logic.

Turning up at the Trials is what matters most. :diablo:

I think if MMRCA is split, the ’35 has a good chance.
Ante_ go down to Sukhoi’s newly opened New Delhi offices and ask His Imperial Majesty Emperor Pogosyan what tricks he’s got up his sleave, try to xerox a picture of the PAK-FA…….and don’t gawp at the Ladies, there’s a good chap.

Delhi is so far away. And I did not mean that in a bad way. I think you like Russian ac that’s all. And everyone has their fav :diablo:

Because you keep repeating this silly “100% French” line, without ever acknowledging that it is false. How much effort is it to snip it out?

    Ok 98% French – the seat. 🙂

Why are you repeating this? I doubt very much that he actually said that. Note that it is not presented as a direct quote. It is a journalists or sub-editors words, not Chabriols. What Chabriol is quoted as saying is that US export controls are not an issue for Rafale. Nobody disputes that. What they dispute is this false – and proven to be – claim it’s 100% French. Why can’t you just accept it, & move on?

Why are you hanging on to that line, I did not quote it alone. There are other stuff he said along with it, which you choose to ignore and come up with arguments like the seat is British etc.

All I am saying is that a person in a very respectable position in one of the worlds top Aviation companies claimed in an India-specific deal that his Product do not require U.S authorization and claimed that the rival Eurofighter has ‘quite a few American components’. He cannot be saying that after comparing Rafale without the MIDS/GPS and the Eurofighter with it.

It just points to the fact that EF has more critical components than these two systems or he won’t be making that claim. Unless you give sources that these are the only critical components in the EF of American origin I am going to believe the Dassualt V.P, the register (which says significant amount of us tech) etc. You are entitled to your opinion regardless.

Like I said quite a few do not mean just GPS and MIDS. And the Dassault VP said it in an India specefic deal and claimed full ToT for the Rafale claimed that its advantage over the Gripen and EF is that it do not need U.S authorization.

Now the GPS/MIDS require U.S authorization, so he must not be offering it to say that, and he must be comparing it to the Non GPS/MIDS Gripen and EF. Otherwise he is being dishonest, which i hardly think is the case.

So keep to be the ignorant and dismiss reality.

No I do not believe what you say is reality. And do not care if you consider me ignorant.

    HE HASN’T CLAIMED OTHERWISE!

How many times are you going to ignore this? MIDS is optional equipment. It does not affect the exportability of Rafale. Rafale is probably being offered with the IAFs current datalink, like the F-16IN.

Similar is the case with the Eurofighter, which has quite a few American parts.

    quite a few
    adjective

    1. An indefinite and somewhat large number; more than a few but fewer than a lot; a fair number of.

    http://www.allwords.com/word-quite+a+few.html

That do not mean just the MIDS/GPS. Even if you make your fonts bold and bang your head on the wall it won’t be so. 😉

    What about this?
    http://www.deagel.com/news/FMS-Saudia-Arabia-Requests-MIDSLVT-1-for-Typhoon-Aircraft_n000005049.aspx
    http://www.baesystems.com/Newsroom/NewsReleases/autoGen_10703019588.html

Exact;y what everyone has been telling you. The Saudis have ordered MIDS, for their Typhoons. It makes sense, as they have a US-supplied air defence system, E-3s, etc.

Note that this is their first purchase of MIDS

I have never disputed that these were involved in the Saudi deal. But these are not the only critical American components in the EF.

Read my last post….why would a Dassault VP claim otherwise on an India-speceif deal. I am sure he was not lying to get one over his rival, as these things are easily verifiable by the Indians.

There will be no need for approval for the Rafale because it uses significantly less U.S tech. There won’t be a U.S approval or a need for it in Rafales case. This is Chabriol, Dassault’s senior vice president for military sales, He says full tech transfer first

When we talk about technology transfer, we mean full technology transfer and not in bits and pieces,” J.P.H.P. Chabriol, Dassault’s senior vice president for military sales, told a group of visiting Indian journalists at the company’s headquarters here.

“The way we work, we first have to obtain clearance of the government before putting in our proposal. If we win the order, we can begin work on transferring technology from day one – unlike our competition,” he added.

Chabriol also pointed out that being 100 percent French gave Dassault a distinct edge over its competitors on the technology transfer issue.

“The Grippen is powered by a US engine and has other US components too. Similar is the case with the Eurofighter, which has quite a few American parts. So, they would have to first seek the US government’s approval. In the case of the F-18, approval would have to be sought not only of the government but also of parliament (the US Congress).

“This legislative approval is not an issue in our case,” Chabriol added.

In short America will not be consulted. Need not be consulted with regards to Rafale.

The Emirates already operate US aircraft, so they may not need further approval for the GPS and/or MIDS license(s).

So do the Saudis namely the F 15, yet they required clearence. So lets see if that is the case with the Rafale, this would settle the argument once and for all.

There are still difference between those two. Futhermore, assuming that one of these was meant is speculation, not a valid conclusion. What if it meant the Su-27, while another article talking about a different radar used the same term to refer to the F-16, which (to go with ballpark figures) has an RCS four times lower? How compatible are the given range figures then? If a statement or claim hasn’t got a number (and preferably an SI unit) to it, I would be wary to draw quick or hard conclusions.

Its a Russian jet so it typically should mean a western target. Most Western Radars claim to detect Mig 29 size target. Anyway it was on dti, they do not print rubbish and that is why I believe it.

It’s just that the details are important here if you claim something. So you don’t know whether the Saudi-Arabian spec approval was about GPS and MIDs indeed, because you admit that you don’t know which parts of the EF require approval?

Its not me claiming it, its me pointing out to the fact that it requires U.S sanctions to sell EF, and Rafale do not. I never said this component or that component.

Like I said lets wait till the U.A.E deal, lets see if the Rafale would need a clearance from the U.S. 🙂

I would appreciate refraining from personal attacks and sticking to the topic.

It was not a personal attack. Just pointing out that I am a common man, who would believe multiple news sources saying one thing especially if there is no sources saying its not that way.

Over G dreaming of an Idealistic Socialistic world where every nation has nukes.

This is the main reason for a U.S invasion of Iran in the future. Because it cannot give Iran a bargaining chip as a Nuclear Bomb.
