Nice to see that we actually agree on something.

    Cheers

    🙂

Chief says they need 75Kn Engine for LCA and F404 won’t do it but then F404 provides 78KN.

May be he wants to be a little on the safe side.

this is a political bais for american jets and maybe french…
But i have no doubt Gripen Demo will show a really good capability..
The demo program made a good progress and will be a capable player.

No bias I think they need an assured and already operational system and leave nothing to chance in the future. I have not doubt about the Gripens capabilities either, how is its AESA programme coming along ?

if IAF likes A2A capabilities of Typhoon (which ofcoz they will), they would definitely consider it, CAPTOR cannot taken granted for. four euro airforces would’t induct it with CAPTOR for no reason. in any case they should be able deliver production AESA by 2012-2013.

1, ACM and IAF considers AESA important with regard to situational awareness.

    2. The Aircraft should meet the capability at the time of evaluation not delivery.

Well a production modell of the RBE2 AESA will not be available by april, but there is a demonstrator onboard the Rafale B301 (which has already been evaluated in the Swiss in october 08) and this demonstrator should be close enough to a production modell do give the Indias a clue of what is awaiting them.

What about the typhoon ? Its odds are struck by the revelation that the aircraft should have the desired capabilities at the time of evaluation and not the time of entry into service.

You know, maybe the MiG-35 is not ‘dead-in the water’ after all.

If they’re sending 2 for evaluation in Spring 2010 (DTI Feb.09), and the second is the production representative airframe & AESA, with full ToT & licensed production (as I doubt the others will offer that for their respective AESAs) its chances may have increased makedly.

If anyone can, Pogosyan can. What he did with Sukhoi in the 1990s should be an MBA case study!

May be, MIGs biggest problems are

    1, An entirely Russian fleet.

2, The Platform not being operational anywhere else.

Arthuro can you update us on the status of Rafales AESA radar, will a production model be ready by April ?

Can you plz post the whole article. i am unable to open that website.

BTW is it anywhere given that AESA is mandatory for MMRCA. Eurofighters Radar is probably the best MSA availaible, should be comparable to Bars on MKI. accepting first one or two squadrons with captor and then going for AESA is good enough.

It is rather difficult because of the nature of the media. I would have to type the whole article out, may do it later and PM you. He also clearly states the AESA is a requirement for MRCA.

It may be a bit slow on slow connections also make sure you have flash player 10 installed.

I have converted it to xps you can get it here.

Five Tejas Aircraft (Light Combat Aircraft) led by Air Cmde Rohit Varma, VM, Project Director (Flight Test), National Flight Test Centre – Aeronautical Development Agency carried out a flypast at Bangalore Airport (HAL) today (February 6, 2009) prelude towards the Aero India Inauguration Ceremony to be held on February 11, 2009. The mission, flown by all test pilots of the National Flight Test Centre, combined flight test profiles for the individual Tejas aircraft with a coordinated rehearsal for the Aero India fly-past.

It was also good to see ACMs Commitment to the Tejas in that very article. He expects LCA MK2 to be ready by 2013 😎

I was talking about just that, a prototype array. Well they have a chance if they can take it for trials. I think it would be more akin to the trials EADS done with the Eurofighter AESA and not just a Demo.

It would be curtains for the Typhoon and Gripen, agreed. This appears to be a low risk strategy (little risk of LCA-style developmental delays).

Which other contenders actually have a functioning production AESA?

MIG has a prototype array, I am not sure it will be considered. If so EF also has one (will they send the one with this though).

Rafale should be able to take the real thing (fingers crossed) to the evaluation. The American jets as we know already have mature AESA radars.

Also interesting is the lack of mention of the level of ToT by the ACM, one of the non-american strong points. This kinda looks like an American deal at the moment.

    To

Sintra and others…who disputed an earlier dti claim that MIG 35 AESA radar has a range of 300 Kms

DTI again claims that the detection range of MIG 35-AESA radar is near 300 kms

250-280 for a fully populated array. 140 km for the current working array.

    Page 33 dti Ferbuary 2009

Also to notice that in the same issue. The ACM of the IAF, Fali H Major states this – ‘When we start evaluations, the aircraft should have what we asked for’ – note at the start of evaluations not when the stuff is delivered. This for me will rule out Gripen NG and Eurofighter as AESA is one of the stated requirements and neither have one ready at the time of evaluation. In short it points in the direction of the American Jets and Rafale.

Poor Russians can’t afford to maintain or fly all their Aircraft. So they choose the ones which are more capable (su 27, Mig 31) and more practical (su 25, su 34) and leave the rest to rot.

where is this truth that you can backup? I would love to see it. It would be all over the net… but im sure your friend of a friend heard about it in the comment section on youtube huh? The Typhoon has almost 0 advantages against the F-22. Bottom line.

Don’t bother he is just pasting the same thing over several threads

In the same way some are warning about the muslim threat and people are not taking the warning.

Seriously man you have some problem with the community or what. There is no MUSLIM THREAT. Islamic terrorism is the threat. Both are different, saying otherwise is insulting to good muslims worldwide.
