the next super power is in decline already.
All because of the current market conditions. They will bounceback just like that.
No if was not absurd, people warned, they didn’t take the warning. A lot of people knew it would happend they just did not know when.
I am frequent traveller to muslim countries and I see distinct rumbling at the grass roots level. It will take time for them to fully gestate but they are definately there. The US and other western countries recognise this threat but why do we have our heads in the sand.
Sorry I don’t believe that the entire muslim world wants to wage a Holy War against us or the west. Its just absurd to even think about it.
The West created & sustained that monster, so let them sort it out.
All India has to do is not get provoked/distracted, and concentrate her efforts on the economy, education and modernising infrastructure & armed forces befitting of a future super-power (imho).Expanding trade & investment with China will obviously be mutually beneficial and will reduce tensions markedly- a slow starter thus far.
My sentiments exactly. Although I do not trust China. May be when it embraces democracy I will. 🙂
Time to upgrade them new engines, airframe changes and SMT upgrades. Or retire them and build more Su 27SMs.
So called Islamic terrorism is a flash in the pan, the real risk that the 2 billion muslims of the world challenging the 500 years of world domination by the west. The real irritant for the muslims is Israel and they hate America because it supports Israel. The western supported regimes in muslim countries will ultimately fail under the tide of history and then Israel and US will have to face the threat from all these countries. The US knows that the only country with a reasonable industrial base and large population base which can potentially support them against the threat from not only growing Islamism but also from rising China is India and that is why they are wooing us. I think the Europeans will only give token support. They have had two world wars in a life time and don’t want another. We have been seduced into an alliance with US and Israel against the 2 billion muslims and 1 billion chinese. But look at our borders and our demographics. We have two large muslim countries on two sides and China on the other plus huge internal muslim population. I think our alliance with the US and Israel could ultimately destroy us as we will be fightung somebody else’s battle. We have to take the matter in our own hand and take out the threat before they grow too big.
Your world view is a bit jaded, I will tell you why. China for instance is fighting its own battle with terror in its western provinces. The Muslims of this world have not been united after a single force after Saladin and the third crusade. So its absurd to think that any country would be facing 2 million muslims. And why do you think every muslim wants a war with India or the west ? I know that majority of Muslims in India support us in a war against Pakistan, and that most of them live in fear of being marginalized back home when there is an Indo-Pak war.
The Chinese are going to be ahead of us at least for another four decades, do we want to be friendly with them and make the mistake we made in the 1960s. An alliance with U.S and Japan is natural its more of a deterrent for all players concerned to contain China. So we are not fighting anyone else’s war.
We cannot defeat Terrorism by Invading Pakistan. The Invasion will be slow tedious and success costly, Pakistan does not have luring natural resources or anything to make strategic sense, as for terrorism, if the small issue of Kashmir can inspire this much terror in our lands, Imagine what the whole territory of Pakistan can do !
If I paid $300 million per F-22, EACH ONE would have to come with a FREE flux capacitor, a talking monkey, (Not Bush) and a MOON!!!
ROFL LOL
Islam is no threat, Islamic terrorism is. Proactive do not mean all out war. What about souping up our Intelligence agencies, like Raw and IB and doing convert missions in Pakistan getting the people we wanted.
I know its hard to do than mobilizing troops, but its the smart way.
What is full military potential and when do you think we will achieve it? What if in the mean time Pakistan continues to #uck with us like supporting the sikh and Kashmir rebellion, the parliment attack, the hijackings and now worst of all the Mumbai attack. Should we keep tuning our other cheek. The events after the Mumbai attack really showed our impotence.
War Mongering is not the way my friend. I am glad sensible people are heading the government whether NDA(like in 2002) or UPA (like now). Why would you attack Pakistan for whatever reason when the IAF squadron levels are low and the military is currently on the path of modernizing.
Our time will come if needed, not now in the future, when our Industry and economy is less dependent on outsources American and European work. When our Military is clearly superior and when our Armies on the Western boarder have superiority in numbers and equipment over that of Pakistan.
Do you have any regard to the economic impact of such a war. The outsourcing business the software business, the IT Empire, it could all suffer grave setbacks if there is a war. China is already so far ahead of us, and frankly we cannot risk falling further back by waging yet another war with a failed state.
I personally believe that Pakistan have enough internal troubles, it will sort itself out the hard way or the easy way. It would either be taken over by hardline Islamists, incurring the wrath of U.S.A creating a puppet state like IRAQ. Or it would free itself from the shackles of terrorism once and for all. On either case we have to play the waiting game.
The Suffering and loss of human life will be 10x the terror attacks on either side in case of an all out war. Its not worth it, Pakistan is a nuclear state, more over its a failed state, we have much to lose from the war and nothing to gain. There is no Oil in Pakistan, its not rich in natural resources, all we would inherit is waring tribal factions which an Islamic government can’t contain, as of now we have enough internal problems already.
I think for defence we are better off with the state-run companies. During the 2001-2002 standoff with Pakistan some businessmen with industrial plants in Gujarat near the Pakistan border had secretly lobbied with the government to stand down.
Which was all for the better. I do not want a war with Pakistan till we reach our full military potential. 🙂
its not just pride but about self sufficiency that India always aimed. we have seen how can big players like Russia and US **** off their customers. if US does it with sanctions, Russia is now doing it with delays, cost escalation etc. another worrying part was, a lot of weapon systems secrets will be with them, and they can pass their classified info about its strength and weakness to our enemies anytime. atleast with western, you are sure that development of product complete and ready made but with Russia, india will end up funding their developments only to suffer from their industry inefficiency (just like they failed to figure out how much the work/money will have to into Gorshy), So Armed forces end up giving a push their industry instead of ours.
Pride and self-sufficiency then. I also want to have the LCA inducted in numbers, But in the long term state-run firms are just not going to cut it.
Why? Where is the fire? Are the North Koreans and their fancy second hand MiG-21s about to invade?
China can give the weapons 🙂
MCA is not Tejas or MRCA its the preposed twin engined, Medium Aircraft for the Indian Airforce. What worries me is ‘stealth features’ which don’t necessarily mean full stealth.
The Tejas is not like that. 🙂 Neither is the Arjun.
Marut was designed by some German dude. LcA is a fully indigenous design (although it looks a bit like the mirage). LCA is going to be inducted in 100+ numbers…whatever the cost. The Defense minister said that.
