I can make the 13th & the 19th.
Any chance of some real Banks’s Mild?
Bugger, I’ll be driving!
B*gg*r, haven’t got a step ladder – and it looks like I need a silly hat too.
infrared sensors thats what they are
They certainly react to heat alright 😀 😀 😀
our preferred new hosting company also have a small transfer in cost
Would be interested to know who they are, because almost all now do this kind of thing free of charge. Nominet may well have a small charge for individuals, they usually deal directly with ISPs and webhosting businesses – which is why you can buy a .co.uk domain for about £6 as opposed to the normal fee of £80 plus VAT per direct domain name registration.
I’ve changed my webhost several times in the past couple of years, and not once been charged for transferring to a new TAG holder.
errr – what transfer cost? Most, if not all, will transfer for free. If not, a simple email to Nominet, copied to them, will be motivation enough.
If they’re any kind of professional bunch, they might have an automatic transfer system on their support website anyway. It doesn’t cost them anything, and it can be done overnight.
And the derivation – someone Goon’s fans will know about:
http://www.goon.org/usgoons/sabrina/
But wait – there’s more
as the people the domain was bought from have asked for a stupid amount of money to renew it
Just renew it again through someone else. Unless someone with a legitimate claim intends to use it, they won’t have a hold on it, and you can complain through the arbitration service at http://www.nominet.org.uk/
If you have a history of using the domain, and you have a legitimate claim to it, you can renew it through whomsoever you want.
UK domain names can be bought for about £6 for a 2 year period.
All you have to do is get the tag transferred and if they refuse to do that, Nominet should step in and take it away from them.
Make sure, in future, that you ensure that the registered domain name is in your own name, and not that of the tag holder (usually your web-hosting service).
A quote from Nominet’s FAQ’s
Why would I need to change my registration agent?
Most people are perfectly happy with the services provided by their existing registration agent and do not need to move to a new provider. However, you may want to change your registration agent because you have found one that can offer different services or gives a better deal than your existing agent.
I suspect, though, that if you direct them to the Nominet website, they’ll understand and will back down on any ludicrous claims they can’t substantiate.
I suspect that may be true of the more modern Jaguar variants & upgraded airframes, which have moved from the Ardour 104 to the 106 – making it 25% more powerful than the original GR1s introduced in about ’73/’74.
I presume you were referring to the Gnat?
Ooops, yes, you’re quite correct, I did mean the Gnat.
Ahhh I see it now – must have been a page refresh problem.
When are these due to arrive/depart? It might be the only chance to see them flying, even if it is just a run & break to landing.
Didn’t see a Gannet listed on the website!
Naa, you got me.
No idea – possibilities – Harrier (joint services), Hawk (there is a private company that flies them in the simulated missile attack role against warships) – but that’s it for me.
Apart from the Lynx, that’s al I can think of out of the list.
You mean that device responsible for beating the air into submission, rather than working with it?
Interesting to note no “TBC” next to Sea Hawk!!!
Why the Canberra not flying?? That’s disappointing :(. I think the Canberra is a great, though all too rare, performer.
the CAA would never certify a supersonic jet to operate in private hands
That just about grounds all the private Hunters & Hawks out there.
The Jaguar is only just supersonic, not much faster, if at all, than the Hunter & Hawk, if I recall correctly, which are both supersonic in a dive.
At least that’s the impression I had while serving at Lossie in the mid 70’s.
Don’t tell anyone, but I flew the Jag Sim at night a couple of times (once with the motion on) (Strictly for testing & calibration purposes you understand 😉 😀 ).
just a few (!) of us meeting up & walking around Duxford together
No event, per see, I don’t think – but the museums are open, and you never know what just might be going on outside.
