Ooo – there I am look:-
Yep – just sorting out my piccies now. I was the one in the white RAMMS Ltd T-Shirt. (RAMMS is now defunct – but the T-shirts come in handy). Oh, I had a tripod (thats not a monster from outerspace) too.
Better still, how about a DC3 full of the Clicker Clique? I may even dig out my Box Brownie for that….:D
Now that IS a good idea!
Ok – here are a few to be going on with. Not really a “historic” show, but there were a few points of interest: –
Sorry I didn’t post any pics last night. Fell asleep (it’s a long day).
I think Mr Langham hit the nail on the head. There is little point holding the show in early/mid July – there are few tourists here at the moment.
There are some, but I can still drive to work and back in an hour and forty mins.
I live in Plymouth and am currently working in Camborne – near Redruth.
Must change my signature, which suggests something else at this time.
Cool – I’ll be there on Sunday.
Hi RobAnt,
As an ex-Helstonian I was very interested in your thread. In fact my Dad (who still lives in Helston) was also at Culdrose yesterday and mentioned the Seahawk incident to me. He too thought it looked as if the brake had locked on eventually bursting the tyre.
Re your point about the mighty Sea Vixen, I too have thought that it has been quite conspicuous in it’s absence from several major airshows this year, particularly the classic jets airshow at Kemble – the very airshow you would expect it to attend! Perhaps it has something to do with the Red Bull sponsorship or perhaps they are just trying to conserve flying hours etc. Either way it has been sorely missed by me at least!
BTW – do you have any more pics from CU that you could post?
Cheers
Nick
Yes – but they need to be “processed” and I’m really quite pushed. I’ll see what I can do quickly – like the two above – which came straight off the camera and quickly resized and compressed.
I’m told that XE601 was down to display, but at the very last moment due to work commitments, the display pilot was called away.
Yep – that’s what happens with mid-week shows! Culdrose (or at least the people of the southwest) deserves better than a Wednesday – and it is likely to be the reason for so many other absences too.
There was one static – in raspberry ripple colours, or similar.
On checking – yes, she was there, but didn’t fly in the display.
Those must be Sky Blue Aviation colours? A JP in similar colours displayed.
Edit:
I’m talking rubbish, as usual – it was XW289:
Someone once said “You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time” – seems accurate to me. They went.
…and all this done with computers that had less computing power than a Playstation…….
I think you’ll find that was “less power than a ZX80“.
Maybe the brake locked – but she didn’t swerve, or twist off the runway, or anything – at least not that I noticed.
(Would that be a ground loop? – Never quite sure what that means.)
Pierre Cressoy as Closterman
Not quite. While it might be based on “The Big Show” – Cressoy doesn’t play Clostermann – at least not in name.
The story in this film actually covers “The lives of three comrades fighting in the Forces Françaises Libres’ flight.”
The plane had no insurance.
I take it that means no “comprehensive” insurance – only 3rd party.
In which case that is even more distressing.
Glad the pilot is okay though, I hope he recovers from the shock quickly.
Swanton morley
Ahh what memories – no airdays though 🙁
Whatever happened to Cherry from the Commcen (1973)?
