Probably best not to publish email addresses in the clear on here, as they can be harvested by spammers. These guys may not be best pleased about received lots of emails offering to improve their libido/prowess.

hummm – I’d have thought – without something long protruding from the rear (like a fuselarge) it would start twizzling end over end – leading edge pulling up, then stalling over backwards.

Not very good for anyone who happens to be underneath either.

Then there’s all the cabling and whotnot.

Not that I know anything about it – just what I’ve observered with bits of wood. I’d have thought the only way to avoid that would be to rotate it like a boomerang or helicopter blade before release.

Edit: Oops no that wouldn’t work – boomerangs/copter blades have leading edges in the direction of rotation.

Tallies quite nicely with the “spotter” at Southend who was convinced a Hercules was a Nimrod!!!

“It’s got a pointy thing on the front.” Was his reasoning!

Sorry, wasn’t meaning to be disrespectful.

But I don’t think he’s been positively ID’d yet, has he? So maybe he did maybe he didn’t? Either way, I was merely clarifying something which hadn’t been actually said.

Public will be admitted after 9:00 p.m both days

Wow – an evening show – will the pilots be able to see their models sufficiently come take-off time?

Or will they be just looking for the fat and thin ends of the jet exhaust flames?

    (PS/ I suspect you mean 9am?)

The guy in the photograph is wearing the uniform of a RAF Officer carrying the rank of a Pilot Officer. Pilot Officers are not necessarily pilots – it is a rank, not a job description. He could easily have been in any of a multitude of jobs within the RAF.

No way that guy was a Warrant Officer of any kind.

Of course, this may be someone in “fancy dress”?

Interesting to note that Pilots are (or maybe were) employed in the “General Duties” branch, rather than a specific trade.

It was either that, or Scooby Doo on C5 🙂

Do we see one of these two (or something similar) through the garden hedge? Or is it my imagination?

    Well, they don’t – yet!

But there have been plenty of discussions along those lines on this board before now.

Try Overclockers instead. I got a 250 Gb LaCie external HDD for £117. Works well and looks pretty nifty too.

Better than that – why not get an external caddy that will take any hard drive. That way drives are slightly cheaper, as you don’t need to keep buying the electronic gubbins that connects them to the PC.

USB and Parallel (though rarer) caddies are available.

Less than £17 for this USB2.0 one

Can’t remember when my last embarrasing moment started – or stopped for that matter – life is one great big embarrasing moment as far as I’m concerned!

I think the point about standards is covered well in Damien’s multi-reply post above.
