Is the Vulcan any less complex?
The Vulcan doesn’t have reheat, which is the main difference between all the types that are not allowed to fly and those that are, so far as I can see.
I don’t believe it is the CAA that won’t allow Concorde to fly, for instance, but the support company responsible.
Bravely said Kev35, I understand where you’re coming from, but I don’t see any difference between a Vulcan and a Boeing 747 coming down. The Vulcan will be flown carefully and well within it’s limits (I hope) and 4 engines are better than 1, when comparing with, say a JP or Hunter.
If WE believe that the Vulcan crashing will completely stop airshows, then I think WE will be among the prime movers in that movement – the arguments and points raised will be recycled out of context and used against our desire to keep them going.
I don’t think in the 100 years of the history of the Airshow, with (what is it?) 50 years of safe spectating, the Vulcan’s loss could prevent them alone, unless we make it come about.
The only aspect of old Warden that needs some improvement, is possibly the number of trade stalls which have been rather depleted in recent years and the stock currently in the new shop which will hopefully offer a better selection for enthusiasts as time goes on.
Frankly, the fewer “rubber mallet” stalls, atmosphere ruining bouncy castles, lorry backed “flight simulators” and other inappropriate trade stalls (Jaguar, Ford (Honda’s are okay 😉 ) & the like) at Old Warden the better, imv.
However, a good photography stall, selling (in particular) memory cards & batteries would be welcome. The lady in the van is very nice and helpful, but her choice of stock is a little out of date.
No – we’re only showing half of what was at Branscombe. There was a huge classic car show and, what I can only describe as, a very large car boot sale. If it were not for all the hedges between fields, & the hill – the fields slope down slightly, away from the side of the runway, it would have been even better.
I purposely photographed the Auster with the haystack in shot (I took others too) to show how unique it was, in airshow terms. The airshow didn’t last very long – 1.35 to 4.30, but there was some nice variety.
I guess you could say it was a nice rural picnic type day.
My legs really ache today, from traversing those hills.
More pics follow a little later.
Found your namesake :), but not your chippie 🙁
Yes, and I thought I had some great pics – until I saw Newboy’s there – fab stuff. How did you get to take pictures down the runway – I couldn’t see sod all. 🙁
:p
Pierre Clostermann – a British/French filming of The Big Show would be extraordinary.
may of
I think you mean “may’ve” (short for “may have”)
Sorry, I don’t know what’s come over me – language is fluid imv. Still, it didn’t look right! ….errrr “correct”…. oh dear 🙁
put the key back through the door
Why bother, nothing worth nickin’ now!

As Murray would say:
“FANTASTIC”
Ahh “í” see – well done!
😉 So you should 😉
There was a brief period a month or two ago when it didn’t edit out the name Díck, but now if you want to write it you have to try to find a substitute for a letter, to fool it 😉
Wow thats seamless! What did you use? 😀
Nice pics & thanks for sharing. 🙂
No they aren’t.
Currently stopped whilst we sort out if the JSF will ever slim down enough to fly from them.
Conceded
I had to ask if they will have a carrier to operate her from!
Yep, two big ‘uns are being built right now. But I expecct one will be mothballed before it actually gets dressed.
