Ahh, well, the answer to that is to have been down the far western end of the crowd line – blessed commentary silence & not a cone to be seen!
I had a mostly okay day – to much water for my personal liking, and if I have one complaint it is that the nearest toilets were down by the Dakota. In fact, apart from a few disabled ones here and there – they were the only toilets – whilst plentiful – us diabetics found the trip frequent and long.
I got there early so can’t comment on incoming traffic (7.50ish) – but getting out was fine. There are lessons others should be taking from Kemble, I’m sure.
How was incoming traffic for later arrivals?
lovely
its an hairyplane thingie – a pretty one too.
🙁 😮
ou ou ou I think I know 🙂 – Did I win?
In which case, forget the brolly – bring splenty of anti-sun slop!
On second thoughts – bring a brolly & tent – but make sure there’s plenty of anti-sun slop to buy at extremely exhorbitant prices.
That way we’ll be guaranteed good weather.

I attended the previous show and had no problems getting in. Only this year have there been problems to my knowledge.
Isn’t 5am early enough to travel 225 miles (travelling at 70 mph, as it is mostly all motorway from door to door it should take less than 4 hours – which it did) that is plenty early enough – even from Plymouth.
As I said earlier, when I arrived at J3 of the M4 it was before 9am – the show didnt start until 11am – that gives plenty of time.
I’m sorry Albert – but this year there were changes which made it an absolute fiasco, and there is no excuse no matter how you try and justify it or place the blame back on me, or others stuck in the ridiculous queues.
Open Letter to Felicity & Robert – placed on the VTTS Guestbook earlier this evening: –
Felicity,
We would love to. We’ve been trying to help XH558 for more than two years now – but seem to be scuppered at every single turn.
We’ve made cash donations and have even pledged more money recently. Why is this proving so difficult?
I have asked you, and Robert, repeatedly to place a specific type of hyperlink from your website to ours so that we can help you generate further income, but nothing has ever happened. Even though you repeatedly agree that you would like us to be involved.
We got a sentence in a recent news letter, consisting of our name, but not giving any detail about how anyone could reach us – or even what we are about.
Now I see that news letters are not even being sent by email (at least, we’ve never received ours – even though I keep subscribing on-line).
We’ve even offered to help keep the website up to date – especially since you lost your last webmaster.
I understand you are both busy, and there is a lot of work that must be done – but we cannot help you unless someone invests a few moments to help us, help you.
We have time and skills to offer The Vulcan to the Sky Campaign, free of charge.
You have all the information you need in emails to you, Robert & webmaster.

It is one thing to expect a little inconvenience – it is another to expect to queue for 3 hours without the chance of a p*ss. Like I said, I’m a diabetic. I had to stop twice on the way up as it was.
Am I now required to wear incontinence pants if I want to go to an airshow??
Traffic management going in was an absolute disgrace. There was no need and there is no excuse for what happened.
Can you imagine the uproar if this had been a football match?
Football manages this kind of problem very well, in comparison. Many matches are attended by almost as many, in the middle of large cities, without much of the attendant problems seem on Sunday.
Good commentary, both informative and entertaining
Good point – but far too loud on the display line – the high speaker cones completely ruined the view from time to time – and the music was both (again) too loud and often, in my view, inappropriate.
I would recommend putting speaker cones low – as I have seen elsewhere – forget where – or possibly behind the crowd line (pointing fore and aft – with a lower volume aft).
Radio Cosford was an absolute shambles period. No real information for the people stuck in the traffic jams and merely served to increase my frustration.
Shame the classic jets didn’t give us a bit more – the Meteor was in and out like Flynn too, unfortunately.
I sat and enjoyed the Gnats pair display.
mmm – Thanks Septic – FWIW I’m using a Fuji Finepix S5000 with the 1.5x teleconversion lens.
