can i ask a question.. who on this forum wants to see a Avro Vulcan in the air again… i certainly do.. if the answer is yes.. then for Gods sake lets give the people who can do this some support and not moan and groan about everything they do… ok so they are having problems, before you critizise imagine yourself in the situation..
Well said, it’s bloody hard work for these guys, the last thing they need is a bunch of “Arm chair experts” bleating and bitching. For ****s sake grow up.
I imagine it would be different if it was a Halifax or a Mancherster.
I personaly would like to see a Victor back in the air. But I have the memories of working on them, to some they’re only dusty artifacts.

NOPE last I heard from a friend who works at Brunty yesterday…..she is still in France…
She can smell the fear.

You can sit and say what you like about the senior executives of this project, they’re the ones who “spend the cash”.
But under no circumstances say anything against the engineers on the hangar floor.
I hope it does fly again, it’s a big ask, but don’t keep knocking the Vulcan.
mick.
There are only one or two of his fellow fighter pilots still alive and alas, in poor health: they were all heroes! We should not forget them…..
Don’t worry, we won’t.
Why is it that bbmf lanc always seem to fly with the top escape hatches open?
Coz it gets bloody hot in there on a transitt flight on a hot day, and it helps the air flow down to the plebs in cattle class down the back.

Nice list, but you missed one off – Carolyn Grace will be displaying “The Grace Spitfire”.
Photographs of ML407 are throughout the publicity material covering the show.

Rolls Royce’s Spitfire XIX currently sitting pretty on the ramp in FAB.
Hope it displays as we are getting fed up with all the noisy stuff the last few days – and the airshow hasn’t even started yet!The Plane Sailing Catalina did a nice show yesterday and another Spit was around on Tuesday – didn’t see which one though. Rumour control suggested it may have be a clipped wing one with stripes, which I think narrows it down to BBMF’s MkIX.
I think you’ll find out that the Spitfire displaying on Tuesday at FAB was “The Grace Spitfire”.
I have it on very good authority, ie the owner/pilot herself.

Like the JU52 touch down, v nice.

Dare i ask!
Is the Lanc still outside and waiting for a certain visitor on Sunday?

Dream on, !!!
moocher…as an IWM employee (a cataloguer, so I guess I’m one of those poor sods in archiving ;)) I asked in case your post was directed at a specific individual and I had missed something. That’s all. I know you have clarified who your post was levelled at in subsequent posts, but in case anyone else is under the impression that all staff employed by the IWM at Duxford have no interest in the aircraft and the history of Duxford and of the RAF, then I can assure you that this is not the case.
I think both sides of this argument have merit. Lessons can be (and I believe in some cases have been) learnt. Without the private operators Duxford would simply be another Hendon, packed full of lovely aircraft, but dead to the senses. But please remember folks, there are IWM people doing good stuff at Duxford (and don’t worry, I don’t think I’m all that, there are folks producing more worthwhile work than me, but I hope I am doing my bit in recording and preserving history).
Good points well made, you get my vote.

There have been a few references to the numpty level at airshows and I have to say that I have found it to be highest in the commentary booth at a lot of airshows. Why do so many commentators come out with stuff that is obviously wrong to anyone who has ever bothered to study a little bit of the info they have available?
Don’t go there, a very good mate of mine and a few others on this forum, got banned for life for making simillar comments, even if it is true.
Old saying – the truth hurts.

Fly high Paul.
RIP.

The ladies who got this line-up arranged and spread the word so people could go see it, you mean? Yes, clearly just hangers-on. I wonder why the IWM bother sometimes. In their position with crap like the above being posted I know I certainly wouldn’t bother with any future opportunities.
If it wasn’t for the above crap –
If it wasn’t for people making comments and enlightening certain parties, the ladies who informed you wouldn’t have known what to inform you about so don’t sit staring through your lens and pontificating, read all the other posts regarding this subject.
Oh and i wasn’t the only one commenting on the lack of / missed marketing oppertunities.
If anything we were trying to help the IWM.

It would be interesting to know when the people who are moaning and complaining on this forum about Duxford, last visited Duxford?.
On all the visits I have had to Duxford this year, and that is 18 times now, I have always been impressed with what I have seen, aircraft being moved around, testflights etc, and I for one am extremely grateful for what is at Duxford both from the IWM and the private companies.

Last week, twice.
otherwise, it depends upon when we need the aeroplane.
I usualy move our aeroplanes or open the doors so vistors can photograph them better.
mick
No need for that tone. It’s apparent that you need something explaining; there are several current and former employees of IWM on these boards, two of which might reasonably have thought you were responding directly to them when you talked of “offending”.
Marketing department.
Is that better. Nothing against the the poor sods restoring the aeroplanes or archiving, just the administrative hangers on.
Better……
obviously a nerve touched somewhere.
