The use of politically incorrect phraseology in this forum is to be deplored.
The correct term is Transit, for heaven’s sake. 😡
You mis-spelled as well. The proper term for Pikey is transient. 😉
That looks very smart indeed! Is that being returned to Hendon after being on long term loan?
No, it will go to the new national military museum at Soesterberg. This new museum replaces the old military aviation museum at Soesterberg and the old army museum in Delft. The new museum is expected to open december 11th.
That does not seem likely, the D-2 had its first flight in 1943 while the P-38 first flew in 1941. Considering the pace of development back then 2 years is a massive lead. Consider the P-51 took less then half a year from first drawings to first flight.
Besides, the Fokker G.1 first flew in 1937 and I would not be surprised if planes with similar layout can be found prior to the G.1
The JSF will arrive in NL late May to conduct noise tests at Volkel and Leeuwarden AFB. It will also be at the Leeuwarden airshow.

I have heard the hotel has run out of beer… any chance you could divert to, say, Eindhoven? First round’s on me!
This is not from a commercial airliner. Least of all a modern one like a 777. The bolts are too large to be seen on the outside of a plane. This would affect the aerodynamics too much. Instead what you’re looking at is debris from what appears to be a Japanese H-11A rocket.
See in particular reply 10 and 14 for details and photos on the H-11A.:

There are a few errors in some of the quizes:
* The airline logo quiz question 4 has the current UA / old CO logo. Both UA and CO are given as possible answers, but both are correct.
* Question 3 of he aircraft noses quiz mentions “Embraer CRJ” as a choise.
* The aircraft rear view quiz has two faults. Question 8 shows a MD-11, but gives DC-10 as the answer. Question 22 is clearly an A320 but the correct answer according to the quiz is 767.
How are the domestic flights organised? Do you need to pass security and passport control? If so then the flight will take considerably more time then the remaining options. And that is not even including the time needed to get from city center to WMSA. The time saving is negligable, the additional comfort doubtful (since you will fly a small plane) and a short flight like this will always be more expensive then the train, let alone the bus. I’d say a flight like this will be booked for the novelty factor ony, and that novelty factor will only work for a short time.
Does National Express not run a service to Victoria anymore? And I believe easyBus has a service to Shephard’s Bush.
My bad. I am mixing up the MS-21 with the C-919.
I would not be surprised if China were deliberately keeping a low profile on this project. With the ARJ-21 they did quite a lot of publicity (by Chinese standards anyway), which then turned against them after all the delays.
Damen shipyards has sold 12 vessels to Trinidad & Tobago. The order includes four patrol vessels, two supply vessels and six interceptors. They will be build in Gorinchem (NL), with the first delivery already expected thus year.
I am interested if airplanes (of any sort) are ever (perhaps periodically) sent away to a facility for maintenance? I’m thinking somewhere away from the exceptionally high levels of security you would find in an airport. Perhaps somewhere where staff are not subject to the same level of security checks.
That depends. Some airlines do everything in-house, some airlines do everything but the D-check (link) (the most comprehensive checks). Others outsource everything.
One of the airports nearby (Maastricht, NL) has a large maintenance fascility for Bombardier DHC-8s. Planes from all over Europe and North Africa visit here frequently, with visitors from further away dropping in from time to time as well. Luton has a large maintenance fascility for Gulfstream jets, Woensdrecht (NL) a large fascility for Fokkers and Airbusses, Moenchengladbach (DE) has a large fascility for ATRs and so on. The same minimum security standards apply as they do at say Heathrow, Schiphol or Frankfurt. But of you’ll understand that the large hubs go above and beyond minimum requirements as they have vastly more manpower and much larger budgets. Just to be clear, I most definately do NOT want to imply security at minor airports is insufficient!
Perhaps the plane could be modified in some way during ‘maintenance’ and drugs could then be stored for transportation. Is there any way I could make this work?
Sure there is. From time to time you hear the police arresting ramp personnel or maintenance crew. There is a lot of money in drugs trafficing so it should come as no surprise that some people take the offer. Or they can be blackmailed into doing so (Dutch link , please use Google translate). And this is definately not limited to minor airports, it also happens at large airports like Schiphol (link) or Heathrow (link).
Could anyone shed any light on what sort of security checks are made on private jets? I’m not looking for full details on how one might smuggle drugs onto a jet but just some basic info which might give me an idea as to whether I should research this method more.
Same as with the big jets. The passengers and luggage will go through the scanners, but the plane is not normally turned inside-out, though the sniffer dogs can spot check any plane they like. I don’t know about the situation in England, but at Schiphol the Paramaribo flights where notorious for drugs running. A few years ago the police started to check 100% of the passengers and freight and they continue doing so to this day. Despite the 100% checks the police still occaisionally find drugs.
Do you know where the fokker is going? Is it going straight to Panama, or will it first make a stop at the Fokker works in Woensdrecht (NL).
So in Excel you can search for (say) All Tornados seen in Scotland during 2002?
If so, any chance you could let me in on the secret as it will solve a huge work issue I am facing?
