How much more PR can Airbus and Indian milk out of this one order?
hmm, good question
1) first steel cutting
2) first wings attached to fuselage
3) first role out
4) first test flight
5) first delivery
6) first landing in India
7) first commercial flight
Repeat this for the 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th and 43rd (last) plane. Perhaps IA will start naming its planes, then every plane can be a media sensation! Of course it must be said that ANY Indian state-run airplane order that makes it through the final hurdle is worthy of some attention. Took them bloody long enough to make the final decision. Same for AI with their Boeings.
I may be committing Blasphemy here, but is the Channel Tunnel an option?
Only an option for Paris and Brussels. At CDG spotting is now officially illegal, so not an option. At BRU spotting is officially boring as hell, so not a good option either (not to mention hard to get to good spots).
How long has the Spectator area been scrapped, and why?
Was late 2002/early 2003 if I am not mistaken. You can still get into the final approach though with no problems. Hatton Cross tube station, Myrtle Avenue etc.
Are there any plans to re-instate it at a later date?
No plans at all.
Happy Birthday!
What about Frankfurt with its viewing area?
The viewing area has been/will be closed. And truth be told, the area was not that good anyway as it is backlit. Now the approach of FRA is easily accesible (by car) and really good!
As for mayor hubs you should not rule out MAD either. In particular strong on the South American routes.
CGN, been there a year ago. It is not that interesting. Good viewing possibilities that’s for sure, but once you have seen your 10th Germanwings and your 15th Hapag Lloyd Express you haev pretty much seen it all. The interesting cargo planes (DHL/UPS) fly in mostly after dark.
When going to a place it would be nice to have someone local familiar with the best spots, schedules, routes etc (having a car would be nice). So anything in the UK as well as AMS, DUS, FRA should be good. How about going stateside, try to get that jump seat ride our resident CoEx ERJ captain will promiss us. 😉
I would love to do ZRH and/or MAD one day.
Sounds like they are going to CDG, a big FedEx base. Every day around 7 widebodies.
hmm I am not aware of the legal limit being 1.2. Is that an EASA requirement for large aircraft then? I’m not disputing it, I am just curious, because if the legal minimum limit for large aircraft is 1.2, then we could make lighter aircraft…….
coanda
Don’t know what organisation set that target.
I read of that limit at airliners.net.
Failure at 1.48 is a non-event. The legal limits are 1.20, so Airbus passed the limits with a very healthy margin. I do not know what Airbus was aiming for. So perhaps they did not reach their target, but they reached the legal limit easily.
They are all Bae146-200s, thats all i know.
James, don’t suppose you could tell me why KLM haven’t snapped up any of the 4 fokker 100s that are in storage at NWI? Just they seem to search far afield for their fokkers and their are 4 in fairly good nick (to the eye) on their UK maintenance’s doorstep.
KLM is searching high and low for F70s, not F100s. Also, the F100 was available with two different engines. It might be that the ones stored at NWI have different engines than those in the KLM fleet.
Actually, this plane crash landed not too long ago. Do not know if it can be (has been?) repaired.
It only hurts because it’s true………… 🙁
Maybe it helps if you replace your rainy avatar with a sunny avatar? It’s all karma you know!
Steve, just lighten up a bit. Certainly it is rather tragic that someone has been travelling with a death head, but what kind of reaction did you expect? A story like this is hard to take seriously.
Why has it taken so long to visit, was it that Heathrow wasn’t up to A380 standard until now?????
There are at the moment only 7 A380, of which at least one has yet to make its first flight. At the moment the main concern for the A380 is making test flights rather then making pleasure cruises.
