Smells like ScreenerΒ΄s Choice to me
That’s what I thought too, the screeners did not agree though. The concorde shot was accepted, the sunset shot in the thread opener was rejected for bad_distance. An appeal did not help either.
Perhaps more luck with the 747 suset shot? Although I would have to crop it tighter then I had hoped to prevent another bad_distance.
Thansk for all the kind words!
I don’t know how you people dont get shifted from that area next to the ned of 24L, if we went that close at Newcastle they’d have our heads.
Difference of mentality. At some airports the local police know how to distinguish between a spotter and Osama. At other airports they do not. There are quite a few airoprts where the police is actually pleased to have spotters, as it means an extra pair of eyes to control the perimeter. AMS and MAN being the best known airports, but a lot of small airports work with the same principle.
Perhaps it might be wiser in future though to resize the photos to 600×400 so the compression does not have to be this high. Most people prefer a smaller pic of high quality than a huge pic of medium quality, especially when the photos are as good as the last FlyBE one!
The 748 is interesting too. Does it still fly?
Would you ever consider coming to BHX? I would love to see your results from there! π π π
If you’d be so kind to arrange for a flight ticket and limo pick-up I will gladly consider it.
My work has an office in Tamworth and I am still hopefull to, one day, get there for a few days. It had all been arranged for a year ago, but this was cancelled last minute because the department was wound up. Did get to see Antwerp though. π
The second batch, with a lot more on my website as well.
Just a few words about my hotel. It was a dump! I can not posibbly believe that they had the cojones to sell rooms there. It looked all nice and well at first glance, it is when you start looking a second time (or worst yet, use their fascilties) that the problems become apparant. The window had a draft that could made the room very cold, the heater did not work sufficiently either. Next to that the bathtub had a leak, the TV did not work and the electrifity cable of the fridge was cut (literally: cut). The bus driver was bragging how he pushed a car with disabbility stickers out of the way because “he was not allowed to be here anyway”.
They left me a enquiry so I could give them a few pointers. I wrote down that the place was “like fawlty towers, without funny personnel”. On the first page it said I could even win another stay, under which I wrote “don’t bother”.
Now I only have to find out where to send this thing too. They where smart enough not to leave me a adress to send it too. Anyone happen to know? I’d be very interested in their reaction.
Seen at AMS while waiting for my flight.
Looking a bit like an eagle spreading its wings.
Been hoping for this plane like forever.
Been waiting for this one too. Now my collection of (former) EXEL Aviation Group planes is complete.
Night shot taken from the T1 Food Court.
The DHC-8 is actually a very rare plane at AMS.
Another rotation of 06R. Can’t believe the mud I had to go through to get there. Four days of dry weather, no temps above 5 celsius, and still mud everywhere! I knew that Switzerland has permafrost, does this mean that MAN has permamud?
And back to the terminal for another bite.
And ending my journey freezing my nuts of at the top floor of the parking garage. Was nice to meet Lance there too.
Don’t you get it? He just zoomed in really closely into the fuselage. The white fuselage has just turned greyish because, well, it’s French…. and it is over 2 months old. What did you expect? A nice shiney plane? Let’s all stay serious heh?
Was nice to meet you too. I like that ERJ best as well.
Still processing my photos. Will place some 50odd on my website, of which the best 10 or so will be placed in my thread I made earlier. Give me an hour or two and I should be done.
Is Jeremy Clarkson an aviation fan
JC is a fan of everything motorised going faster then 40mph. You should see him speak about COncorde or the Blackbird, he’s drooling like a baby.
Make sure the lenses of the EOS 500 are actually compatible with digital EOS’s. This is not always the case!
Also, instead of going for the 350D you can also go for a (2nd hand) 300D or 10D. I use the 10D and find it to be easier to use than my dad’s 350D.
I fear that your camera may not be suitable for aviation photography. Even the best of extra lenses will only increase your zoom 3x or so for a camera like yoursI’ve seen one on eBay for 70 USD (~50 GBP). This would give your camera a 70mm lense. At most airports this will not cut it unless you have ramp access.
Instead of going for a new lense I’d go for a “new” (2nd hand) camera. I’ve used a Sony F717 before I got my current camera. They can be had from eBay for as little as 350 USD (~200 GBP). Still a good amount of money, but in my opinion money better spend then on a new lense for your current camera.
Probably not the answer you where hoping for. Sorry for that.
When that happens it will be too late. Massive recession will set in because half the worlds population depends on oil for their work. There are obvious candidates, anyone working in transport for instance. But plastics contains oil. A lot of Medicine contains oil. Etc.
Building a load of solar collectors and wind mills will only solve the immediate problem. But a tractor will not go on wind energy or solar collectors. And for the moment electrical engines are not power ful enough (or too large) to be practical as tractors. So large scale farming will be near impossible too.
An alternative will have to be found, quickly if indeed we only have 10 years (seems overly pessimistic but who am I).
What should be done immediately too is perfect oil extraction. At the moment a lot of oil can not be reached with the current extraction techniques. If that oil is made accesible we will buy a few decades relief to sort out our dependance on oil. It will make petrol all the more expensive but it is possible.
Diesel engines, the newer ones anyway, can already run on other kinds of oil. Even kitchen oil normally used to make fries for instance can be used. Of course the cities will then smell like a large MacDonalds. Might work in Belgium though. π

My desktop. I use a normal picture on which I make a calender with important dates marked. I always kept forgetting birthdays and stuff.
