One day after the Paris Air Show the B777-300ER demonstrator went home to Seattle. But not before opening the new ATC tower at Schiphol airport! Obviously an opportunity I could not miss!

And another one from the Paris Air Show. The last one. This is a model of the proposed Sukhoi RRJ-75.

Its from a enthiousiasts website. From the “orders mailing list”, this list is (as the name implies) a mailing list that is used to update people on plane orders and to discuss them. They got quite some interesting messages over there! If you want the messageas can be read on their webpage and/or sent directly to your mail box.

Please note that you do need to have a Yahoo! account to access it. You can freely obtain an account and it can also be used as e-mail address (yourname@yahoo.com).

There was a (ETA?) bomb threat at Las Palmas causing the cancellation and rerouting of all flights. Tenerife was just one of many airports around that got more flights.

In the end the bomb threat proved to be a hoax. It is ironic that this false alarm caused more death and destruction than the “average” Spanish bombing (which happen quite often with ETA considering tourists a legitimate target due to their value to the Spanish economy).

Not the most professionel method but still… I looked up all photo’s of Ryanair 146’s at A.net, JP.net and PP.net. The following airports had Ryanair 146’s.

    Killarney (Ireland)
    Ostend (Belgium)
    Groningen/Eelde (the Netherlands)
    Strassbourg (France)
    Poitiers (France)

I do not know if these had/have regular flights, but it’s a start I suppose.

Just kick starting an old thread…

I found this graph and figured it might be of interest to someone here. The graph compares the costs Easyjet has with the costs KLM has with regard to operating their B737-300’s.

EasyJet day return to AMS for either late September or early October. Whichever comes up with the most affordable deal. Anyone else ?

If it is on a saturday or sunday I’ll probably go. Depends if I have to do any family thing. If it is during the week I might be able to ask for a free day. Just inform me early on of the date your going.

Nice pics you got there, I rally like the BA 744. Must have been a nice day you guys had.

I hate to spoil your fun, but your last pic ain’t a 767, it’s a 777. Note the main gear, it has 3 axles instead of 2 and the rear of the plane ends in a screwdriver instead of a cone (although that one is quite hard to see).

I’m sorry I was unable to come. Bit of a financial crises. Since I spend a year in London for school, my savings went down quite a bit. I am now working on topping it up so I can hopefully get a place of my own, leave the parents…

Maybe the next gettogether can be arranged at Amsterdam or Dusseldorf?

could be that one too, I keep mixing it up. I mean the one that is used to land on when the wind comes from the west.

    Welcome on board,

To aswer your question, the observation terrace is still closed. It looks like it will remain closed for a long time, possible even for ever. From what I’ve heard the M3 shop has been moved to the LHR visitors centre on the north side of LHR.

The best place to go plane watching is the tube station of Hatton Cross (1st station from terminal 1/2/3 and 2nd station from terminal 4). From here you are under the final approach path of 09L. If runway 09R is in use you can just walk to the north to find an equally good spot. On your route you will also find the place where planes cross the road. It’s about a 10 minute walk.

So if the wind comes from the west just go to Hatton Cross. If the wind comes from the east you might as well stay home. I do not believe any good places are still accesible anymore (not by bus/foot anyway). You could try to catch the planes from Hatton Cross but other then the heavies they are usually to high.
