Actually Kurmitz28 is right, some people did want to expand this airport instead of expaning LHR/GTW/STN or building a new airport at Cliffe.

    Widebody
    Both
    Undetermined

That sums it up I believe. You may want to check out this post. Not only are there some nice 7E7 pics you will NEVER find at A.net (or even Boeing!), but there is also some of information about the 7E7 to be found.

Can the US do this, I mean sell a plane that is not theirs? I know there is a “special relation” between the US and Cuba, but this seems odd. How would the US react if a American Airlines 777 is highjacked, lands in Havana and is then sold by the Cuban autorities to the highest bidder?

The an225 will still be the biggest. Only the heigth is smaller, because it has two small instead of one large tail.

    An225……. Wing span 290ft, Length 275ft, Heigth 59ft
    A380……… Wing span 261ft, Length 239ft, Height 79ft
    An124……. Wing span 240ft, Lenght 228ft, Height 73ft
    B747……… Wing span 213ft, Length 231ft, Height 63ft

    An225… 1,322,750lb (600,000Kg)
    A380….. 1,235,000lb (560,000Kg)
    An124… 892,857lb (405,000Kg)
    B747….. 870,000lb (394,625Kg)

I do not know about any future versions of the A380. A larger version is on the drwaing boards, but this one is obviously not going to be launched anytime soon!

I think GZYL described it quite nicely. Those new engines won’t show up anytime soon. GE and P&W would not be able to afford it even if they wanted to.

The only thing that might bring these engines here anytime soon is if the USAF has a requirment for them. In that case the engines will be developed (largely) at the cost of Uncle Sam.

Now imagine the USAF has the engine, problem then is that there will also be a plane that’s going to be attached to the new engine. A plane that will likely be a black project for at least a few years.

Because of the “black plane” the USAF will not allow the engine to enter the civilian market. If suddenly a high-tech engine pops up in the US seemingly out of nowhere, everyone with half a brain will know the origins of it and will realise there is more than meets the eye.

And I did not even mention the problems Europe might give if a (largely) US funded engine pops up. Dishonest competition to RR and SNECMA!

    —————-

Perhaps a bit of topic, but of interest none-the-less.

    —————-

I think that both planes look ugly, each in their own way. At the moment I am not going to guess who will be more succesful.

The 7E7 will sell more because there is a larger markter for planes of that size. The A380 will likely sell with a larger profit margin because there is no competition (the 747 is still smaller than the basic A380 and a lot smaller than some of the proposed versions of the A380). The 747 sold in smaller numbers than the 767 and the A330 combined, still nobody calls it an unsuccesful plane!

One thing I thought of, what if Airbus cross-subsidizes its product with the extra profit that MIGHT be made. Maybe they could sell the A330 for less money, or do a massive upgrade of the A330 (a la A34-500/600). This would affect the 7E7 sales, maybe not a lot but still.
Boeing has done the same for donkey’s years. The 747 at one time or another cross subsidized almost every airliner Boeing made!

Sorry this topic got so long.

How about AMS, catch up on NW DC-10’s and old livery KLM’s before they are all gone? Would be so much easier for me! 😀

It STILL has not been decided, the door is still open for BA to come with something interesting. Having said that, I think that AF would be better. They already are a partner with Delta, Delta is a partner of NW and NW is a partner of KLM. This would give a very good alliance.

Sometimes these negotiaters look like the Duracel bunny. They keep on going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going. Hey, in Holland you can never know what people stick up their %&*. 😉

I probably should not have said that…. 😀

I hope this won’t affect my chances for a job at KLM in the future. :p

It looks a tad like the B777300ER demonstrator. I like it a lot!

Do you know if this is only open for UK inhabitants or also foreigners? If not, will there be an action like that for Holland and other countries? I’d love to see Concorde visit Schiphol… (ooh, and a flight would be nice too)

Hey there great pics mate how did you get those?

This model was displayed at the Paris Air Show. It was quite large, 1.0 or 1.5 meters or something like that. Getting close enough was therefore not much of a problem.

    Pembo330
Is the 7E7 narrow or wide bodied?

There is a graph comparing the width of the B767 with the B7E7 (as it is proposed now) in the Flight International of 10-16 June 2003. That’s the special Paris Air Show edition.
According to this graph the BE7 has a slightly wider cabin. The wingspan is quite a lot larger. The B767 has a wingspan of 47.6m/156.1ft, the B7E7 will have a wingspan of 57.3m/187.9ft. The cabin will be, “measured at 1.27m (4.2ft) height level […]730mm more width than the B767 and 340mm more than the A330” (quote from FI). That would clearly make it a widebody.
How this would be a replacement for the B737, as has once been suggested, is anyone’s guess. Unless they want to have two versions like the B757/B767 combo.

    PhantomII
How big is this thing supposed to be?

Well, its supposed to replace the B757/B767 and the A300/A310 and (Boeing hopes) the A330. Therefore the plane will be about that size.

i want to know what its capable of doing to beat Airbus in the market hold

We won’t know for quite a while to come. At the moment the specs are still being negotiated. Therefore what they are writing about range, precise number of seats, cargo capacity is still speculation.

!!! OH, AND I GRADUATED FROM SCHOOL !!!
