Looking to pop over to EIN sometime in the near future myself – might have to drop you a line!
No RNAF DC-10s about today?
Just parked in a corner backlit with loads of clutter, as usual. Did not bother making a photo cause it would I would have thrown it away anyway. Still have not had a good shot of it flying.
In fact, the air base part of EIN closes over the weekend. So because of my work schedule I have not been able to get myself to EIN during a active day. And when I have time of during the week, I prefer to spend it at AMS, DUS or FRA where there are more then two planes an hour.
I would not visit EIN for spotting only. Just visit AMS. EIN has its IL76 air force charters, but they only come in from time to tim so that is a hit or miss excercise.
number of cornflakes you had for breakfast
number of planes you spotted
number of planes you photographed
number of cars that passed your house
number of hairs your cat is loosing
number of fits your mum has had over the cat loosing its hair
the possibilities are endless

How about this for a crusade? 😀
Oh, very nice! :D:D:D
See, I told you the sun would find you eventually. 😉
Yeah, but only after wasting 20 liters of petrol driving up and down to Brussels!
Air Bristol
Nice stuff, we did the same thing at school many moons ago.
However, the planes where made in the science lab in the basementm where it was very warm. The actual flight was to be done in the gym which was very cold. So in the science lab my plane flew 6 or 7 seconds. Reason for that amongst other was that I had choosen a flight path over the heaters. Once in the gym it pretty much nose dived. Still managed to go further then any ofthe other planes though! 😀
Never ask Ryanair a refund for landing at a remote airport.
Today and yesterday there was a 757 on the evening AMS flight. The other flights are still 733s. Do not know if this is a permanent change. Hope so, although the time is unfortunate as it is already way to dark at 20:00 for photos.
Found this http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0449959/ unfortunately it doesn’t say if it’s coming to the UK
Considering the movie is German spoken, the chances of it getting on UK television is remote at best. Few TV stations in the UK buy foreign-language movies when it is much cheaper to buy US movies/documentaries that do not need dubbing or subtitling.
Perhaps it will be possible to get a DVD version from eBay or something?
Out of interest what was the temp. like today over in Amsterdam?
Temperatures are hovering between -3 and +5 celsius. Wind chill can make it feel colder. Despite that there was a noticible heat haze over the runway, which is rather annoying.
The cockpitwindows are not Jetstream-like. They are more like the Embraer. Note that the engines are not jet engines. Jet engines have a hole on both sides, the model only at the front where the prop would be located. Perhaps this was a further development of the Embraer 120 turbo prop? Would be a large stretch with winglets added.
Definately interesting.
That’s a nice A300-600R of IranAir. Did they get that from Olympic?
No, EP-IBB was delivered to them new december 27th 1994. Construction number 727.
EP-IBC and IBD came from OA. All the others where either delivered to them new, or from THY.
Excellent selection Tenthije. And just in time for my visits in 2 weeks (keep the weather good :p :p )
Question :in the first pic (Iran Air) those chaps seem pretty close to the action…is that airside?? and is that bit open to joe public??
Cheers
That is landside and completely open to the public. Seems close by, but you can not see the canal between them and the runway. In the attached pic you can see where the land ends. All pics in this thread where taken there, except for the last two and the one with the parking lot in front of it. The one with the parking lot is just a few 100 metres from the Iran Air spot. To give an indication of how close you are. Most of the shots where taken with between 70 and 100 mm zoom (please multiply with 1.6 for digital crop factor if you are shooting analog).
It is similar to the mounds at MAN. If you take the picture just right it seems as though you are free to walk on the runway, but trust me, you are not!
To get there you must take busline 191, 193 or 198 to busstop Aalsmeerderweg. Walk into the street on you left (yes, the Aalsmeerderweg) and follow it till the end. Should be 15 minutes by bus and another 15 minutes walk.
This one has to win:
Air Holland (1) -> Air Holland (2) -> Air Holland (3) -> HollandEXEL/BelgiumEXEL/ArubaEXEL/WhateverEXEL -> ArkeFLY.
Netherlines + NLM = NLM Cityhopper – KLM Cityhopper
