Didn’t Bill Clinton win two terms?
The last time I checked, Bill Clinton was 1 person. When I say “two consecutive presidents” – I thought I made it quite clear I meant 2 separate people?

Personally, I’m disappointed, but I’m not that surprised. It’s the democratic system though, and I’ll have to respect it and just hope for the best. The people have spoken, and it is what it is.
Well, us republicans can have some comfort knowing there’s more than meets the eye with the landslide figures [303 (+29) – 206] the media keep bombarding us with.
The popular vote tells a different story [50% – 48%], so there’s still some sanity left in America 😉
They’ve just had some of the worst four years in recent US history, and they’ve voted for no change!
Shame the only real challenger was a dim god-botherer…
Couldn’t agree more, but they’ll all be regretting it come 2016. The last time the US saw two consecutive democratic presidents was 1963 (and we all know the reasons behind that).
I’m sure the republicans will (in the words of Romney) ‘come roaring back’ in the next election – all they need is a good ol’ Texan senator to win the public over :p

I agree with Ben, the animal should have been be put down.
But, it’s a personal issue – if the owners want to keep the dog alive that’s their call.
In the same way a child’s parents might want to turn off the life support machine keeping their terminally ill son alive, others might want to keep it on.

I think when it comes to the economy, @jbritchford, Romney is in a better position than Obama.
Romney was the son of a self-made millionaire, he went on to work for several management consultancy firms and co-founded Bain Capital before entering the political arena in 1994.
If either of the two can get the economy back on track, it’s Mitt.
The US budget deficit has actually increased under Obama’s leadership! But the most amazing statistic is US debt has more then doubled during Obama’s first term!
Romney actually plans to reduce the deficit by 20% in his first term in office.

You also raised the issue of energy? Romey’s plan is to reduce the nation’s dependency on Middle Eastern oil by negotiating with one of the US’s closest neighbours and allies, Canada.
Canada has the world’s 3rd largest proven oil reserves after Venezuela and Saudi Arabia. Romney plans to make it easier for companies to access this oil by tax incentives and the removal of red tape.
You also say Obama has a more intelligent approach to foreign relations – what like increasing the trade deficit with China (watching US jobs flow abroad) and sitting back while foreign embassies are recklessly burnt down by Middle Eastern Hooligans?

I don’t think any of the Pakistani carriers are particularly safe, I’d personally say it’s one of the most dangerous (if not the most dangerous) country to take a flight from. Very little aviation regulation, poor pilot training and shoddy maintenance jobs.
PIA flight 688 (2006), AirBlue flight 202 (2010), Bhoja Air flight 213 (2012).
No. Thank. You.
Whilst the photo was taken at Amsterdam, this is not indicative that it was there on scheduled commercial service.
I actually think it may have been at the airport for repainting? Looking at the aircraft’s history, VQ-BEQ (soon to become AP-BKN) hasn’t yet been handed over to Shaheen. I believe it is due to be handed over in December.

Unfortunately, I don’t think Europe is on the agenda for the new A330s http://www.pstimes.com/2012/08/03/shaheen-air-acquires-new-a-330-aircraft-2/
What makes me laugh is the Shaheen website “The aircraft has a very comfortable two class layout with a seating capacity of 327 passengers.” 😮 Oxymoron?
To put things into perspective, when VS first acquired the A333 they operated them on economy heavy routes (MAN-MCO & LGW-MCO) – yet even with their 2 class service (30″ economy, 38″ premium economy) they still only operated the aircraft with 314 seats.
So quite how you can offer a 2 class product (with full business class) on a 327 seat A333 and call it “very comfortable” is beyond me?
I think I’ll add my opinion here. I went off on a tangent about the far east in my previous comments
I’m interested in the US election. Although, I wouldn’t claim I was one of those people who stares avidly at my google news feed – waiting to hear the latest news from Washington on the president’s breakfast or what shampoo the governor’s wife uses.
I do however, sit up and take note when Mark Mardell makes an appearance on the 10 o’clock news.
I’m not dazzled by either candidate, as one American voter said “Obama’s bad, yet his opponent’s worse”. As a republican supporter I hope Mitt scrapes in, although given the number of gaffes he’s made over the past few months; that may be a struggle.

These certainly are interesting economic times 😉 It’s not all doom and gloom for the Far East, however. Watch this space, Vietnam could be hugely powerful in the next 10-15 years. Along with South Korea, both are growing progressively and sustainably.
China’s problems are quite widely published http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-19662365
