wow there’s quite a number of anti-israel sentiment.. some of which are coming from Americans even!

Let’s get this straight.. is civilian casualties bad? Of course they are, who wants innocent people to die?

    Is it inevitable.. yes. unfortunately..

to the large extent where Beirut, etc is destroyed? unfortunately Yes again.

Many don’t seem to realize how deep Hezbollah is in Lebanese society. They have large public organizations and facilities in Southern Lebanon and could be called the de-facto rulers of the Southern areas.. Around the poorer areas of Beirut.. Hezbollah is also there appealing to the poor. As a result of where they are located (in populated civilian areas), that you will find buildings in the suburbs being targetted.. but unfortunately that’s where Hezbollah is.

What Israel is trying to do is to destroy Hezbollah’s military wing and help strengthen Lebanon’s central government so that they can actually appeal and help the Lebanese, instead of them relying on terrorist groups like Hezbollah.

if anything, it would be in Israel’s best interest to not only re-occupy southern Lebanon but the entire country. It was always screwed up to begin with and needs some one to help them establish a proper government that can actually control its people, rather than be weak and let the likes of Hezbollah run around.

what can you say? lebanon asked for it.. They got over the civil war, Syria and Israel withdrew. Lebanon could’ve practiced more authority and disband hezbollah and strengthen their authority over the entire country but they didn’t.. Hezbollah continues to exist, and Lebanon has yet to build a credible defence which continues to make them hapless to Syria and Israel, and continue to rely on Hezbollah.

Of todays ships, The Horizon are ugly. The Talwar are impracticle and Type 45 are worse than the Horizon but nothing is as bad as the Arleigh Burke class!

Personally I like the F-100 Bazan class followed by the Nansen class!

Sadly the best looking ship ever thought of will never hit the water, the Australian Department of Defence: Defence Materiel Organisation”s AWD Proposal. Here’s a pic

why do you think the Talwar is impractical?
