This is completely unrelated to this incident but i didnt think it was worth its own thread.

Why when an aircraft crashed, the first thing they do is paint out the aircraft markings airline name, logo etc.

Just found these photos of the new terminal. Its Huge! Imagine having to transfer between flights from one end to the other. About a 2km walk!

Yes but that is all very dependent on the destinations your flying to/from. For example I’m flying to Dublin with FR next month and it cost £30 return, Dublin is not an airport in the middle of nowhere, no I do like an allocated seat but in most cases people do get what they want. I got a window on both my FR trips last year and didn’t find it to be a push and shove game.

Well the paying issue, it’s only a 50 minute flight so what would I want to pay for? 😉 . These issues all link with each other really don’t they 😎

Fare enough Ryanair are cheap but there boarding procedures suck. The first 60 people to check in are aloud to board first but in reality this doesnt happen. I was flying from Verona Brescia to Stansted, having been in the first 60 to check i should have been in the first 60 to board but the moment the flight is announced the whole departure lounge crouds around the desk pushing to get there tickets to the attendents first. The attendents just gave up on the “priority boarding” system.

It seems you have to be a rugby player to board a Ryanair flight.

Price is usually the main consideration however airport location is another. I live in the east midlands so if i am flying from a London airport i usually choose Stansted because it only takes 1h 45m to get there. If i cant fly from east midlands or Doncaster Sheffield i would happily pay a little more to fly from Stansted or Luton as apposed to Heathrow or Gatwick.

    TF-FIJ

I flew on that aircraft TF-FIJ in March 2005 and i must admit it shows its age a bit. If Icelandair are spending this much money on it to add winglets im sure they could spare a bit to improve the in flight entertainment etc. It has those rubbish over the aisle big tele things and the picture qualities rubbish. Also the headphone socket in my seat didnt work. The 757-300 TF-FIX on the way home was much better.

Boeing 747 SP “ZS-SPA” with Alliance air from LHR to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.
Aircraft has now been scrapped. http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=413594

I also travelled on a twin otter aircraft in Tanzania which crashed a couple of years later. Apparently some of the passengers got eaten by lions!

    BA Past Safety record

May i point out that British Airways has only ever had one major crash where fatalities have occured and this was in the 1970s. It has had its fair share of incidents in the past but that is to be expected given the size of its fleet and age. Comparing it to other airlines of a similar size e.g. Air France it is quite obvious that BA has maintained a very high safety record. This can only reflect the high quality and techniques of its engineering department.
