Perhaps our Commonwealth readers, and indeed European readers would like to avail themselves of this facility to communicate their feelings on the matter.

There are some items on this list that would go well towards balancing the Cold War display.

Still scares me f@rtless all our AWACS eggs in one basket. What happens if one goes to the other side. I.E. A Saudi one defects to Iran?? I know there are differing levels of kit, but a lot of the basic comms stuff would be well and truely compromised.

So McClaren has been pushed. What I don’t understand is no one is demanding Barw*** jump on his sword. He gave SM the job and stopped other more capable candidates from applying.
Why oh why do the England team and press assume we have a divine right to start every major competition at the quarter final stage if not the semi final stage.
National Pride don’t make me laugh. Just watch the way they fidget around, scratch their parts and look for their mates/girlfriends/wives/mothers of their childeren in the crowd while OUR anthem is played.

    Cosford and the “Mitchell Collection”

Though this report is a bit dated I post in the hope it proves useful to someone
Posted last year on another group by Dave Walker and reproduced with his permission

I visited Sleap on 13/10/06 & saw the following “Mitchell” aircraft in
    a new purpose-built hangar:
    G-RIDE Stephens Akro model A
    G-BADW Pitts S-2A Special
    G-AWIW Stampe SV-4B
G-AFRZ Miles M.17 Monarch (in poor condition)
    N49272 Fairchild PT-23
    N56421 Ryan ST-3KR
    N1344 Ryan ST-3KR

I was told that the remainder of the collection would follow from
Cosford in due course – may already be there by now. These comprise :
    G-AEUJ Miles M.11A Whitney Straight
    G-AYKZ KZ-VIII
    N58566 Convair BT-15 Vultee Valiant

I have also got this to add if it helps

I have done N number enquiries on all of his American aircraft.
    They are registered to
    Name FLYING HERITAGE INC
    Street 280 ARNETT AVENUE
City VENTURA State CALIFORNIA Zip Code 93003
    County VENTURA
    Country UNITED STATES

Though they are all overdue their tri-annual FAA review.
    Hope it helps

    Zaps !!

Of course one of the best zaps was the “RNZAF Vulcan” whereby a red kiwi had been painted over the red in the roundel during a visit down under.

Surely one of the best “zaps” was the Royal Navy Phantoms that were tagged with an early WW2 USAAF emblem and the title “Colonial Navy” in place of Royal Navy.

t can get a bit extreme. I believe a Jaguar on a squadron exchange in Germany (WEST) collected an Iron cross and german style serial number. I saw a B52 once wearing a 617 tail fin badge.

XL319 was zapped by the confederate air force while out there.

I believe a Phantom was zapped by the staff at the place that doesn’t exist, when subject of a tech emergency. I believe the crew also had a very intense debrief before being allowed to return to nellis.

Perhaps we require a separate thread on the theme of Zaps?
