A Haynes Manual for the Dakota please.

I hope to continue helping with efforts to get 2 C47’s back where they belong. If I win the lottery/sell a kidney/go on the game/find a way to get 5k somehow, I will go for a PPL.
Most of all, I would like to meet more of you horrible lot 🙂

Somebody please put on an airshow.
😀 😀 Looks like some contributors have gone through the angry stage of withdrawal and have moved into the “dribbling into their cocoa” phase.. Having not attended an airshow for 18 months, I’m in the “spending all weekend in a cold hanger and enjoying it” stages of the condition.

What was Yeager doing when he broke the sound barrier?
At a guess, over Mach 1? 😀
Wasn’t Yeager’s run straight and level?
JC
Kevlar = Aramid FYI.
Thanks – I wasn’t sure of that, but too lazy to check 🙂

Another reason for fabric covering the control surfaces would have been serviceability I guess, although weight would have been the main consideration.

The Mosquito one. Love it. They’re all brilliant, but the Mossie one is my fave.
JC
Well yes actually! 😀

What they all said – Simply put, the skin forms a major structural part of the assembly, whereas in a “composite” (that’s a good term for it Chiron!) structure the tubular chassis (for want of a better word) would be self supporting. In other words, don’t strip the skin off a Spitfire without it being properly supported in jigs.
Modern light aircraft designs made from the modern usage of the word “Composite” (meaning an amalgum of Glass Fibre, Carbon Fibre, Kevlar and Aramid weaves all bound together by resin) are more true to the term monocoque, as they can be thought of as a shell.

Steve, are the quality of your jokes directly related to the time of your postings? 😀 😀
Never before in the field of forum posting have so many bad jokes been told by one man to so many. :diablo:
JC
Keep ’em coming Steve – they might be awful but despite that they make me smile!
Whoa, big boom!! To quote from the “Life of Brian”: “You lucky lucky b*stard!”
JC
Who aren’t building cars at NP anymore! Bloxham and Gaydon now – IIRC only the servicing and restorations are at NP these days.
JC
That wouldn’t surprise me Mark – the cue I had in mind is the Spifire wing shape of the fascia on the XK, XJ, S type and X type.
The Newport Pagnell company wouldn’t begin with the letter “T” by any chance?
JC
Will, tell her I’ll be wanting commision!! 😀 Is it the Dakota doing the trip – reckon it’ll be PY? 🙂
JC
So is the MEIR a combined thing, or is it two separate courses grouped for convenience?
In other words, would I do the ME rating and then the IR or would I just do a MEIR course?
