And we can adapt it for Mr B’Liar as well – sometime in the next 10 years!!

“Tommy” by Richard Holmes – excellent. Also reading “The Bear and the Dragon” by Tom Clancy. Next on the list is a couple of Flashman books by George MacDonald Fraser wot I found on a charity book stall for 50p each (result!).
Workwise I need to look at EEC Directive 92/23 as amended by Directive 2001/43 – Motor Vehicle Tyres as applied to Directive 70/156. But I can’t be A*sed.

As an aside, R4 mentioned that there are moves afoot to get Bomber Command crews “Rehabilitated” (the exact word!). Unfortunately I was nearly at work so I couldn’t listen further, but I was rather irritated at the choice of word. “Recognised” is more apt, is it not? Did anyone hear the actual Item?

Hmmm, needs to be in the “Instant Divorce” Category as well!
Seriously, would any of the parts be useable on the “live” airframes? Still only worth a few hundred at best IMO.
is it actually possible to take a vulcan apart. i meen in away that it will go back together. i have never seen or heard of it. i have seen it done with the not so delicate touch of a JCB
I think the wings separate outboard of the engines and that’s about it. IIRC the main fusalage is still far too wide to fit on a single carriageway without removing the lamposts (didn’t they have to hinge the lamposts to move the fusalages to final assembly?)
Will it be airworthy for Legends 2005? 🙂

She’s not been home this week as far as I know

The lettering looks more like ARBJ to me. Wouldn’t have a clue what it means though!

RIP – he’ll be sorely missed 🙁

I’d love to, but I haven’t got the experience/quals/licences!

Two words: “Cillit Bang”.
Still not convinced it’s for real – What marketing department in their right minds would accept that as a marketable name?

Wishing that Jaguar used the same ad agency as Honda
When I worked at Lotus, there were rumours of a buried stash of B24 parts (including engines – brand new and in crates of course!) somewhere on the site.
As the actual airfield part of the site has been mostly left alone (apart from the test track, which follows the peri track and parts of the main runways) there is a fair chance that if this dump ever existed, it’s still there…

This should have been a poll! If it needs Tony B’Liars face painted on it to keep it airbo(u)rne, then so be it IMNSHO 🙂
If I were lucky enough to own an airworthy machine and the difference between operating it or not was a paint scheme, I don’t think I’d have many scruples……

Well, from what I saw at the last Cold War Jet bash at Bruntingthorpe, 558 looked like the world’s biggest jigsaw puzzle, but everything seemed as though it was moving forward. I spent a long time just trying to work out what some of the bits were!
Until I’d seen her in this state, I had no idea what a massive undertaking the operation is. No matter what polarized opinions exist about TVOC, they’ve got a lot of work to do, and it’s a brave decision to attempt it. Maybe info will be more forthcoming as the project moves forward.

eternal optimist
We’ve got one awaiting restoration by SWMBO’s indolent 17 year old son.
It’s going to be black with a Zeemax Body kit and DTM exhaust (in the loft waiting). I refuse to do anything to it until he gets a job!! Unfortunatly he’s “Working his ass off” doing art A levels at college 16 hours a week and can’t spare the time to work 😀
I’m going to stop now before this turns into a rant!

The little blue Airfix Spifire was the first I remember – built for me by my father when I was about 4.
First I attempted solo would have been aged 6 – I started with a Scammel Tank Transporter (utter disaster). I must have built hundreds of planes, tanks and cars until girls and cars took over. Last kit built was an Airfix 1/48th Desert Storm Tornado (I think) in 1993.
Currently awaiting construction (and have been for 10 years now) are:
Monogram 1/48th B24
Airfix 1/72nd Buccaneer
Airfix 1/48th MiG 29
Tamiya Brabham BT56 (?)
Tamiya Alfa Romeo 156 DTM
What I really want is a LARGE scale WW1 fighter (ideally SE5a) – any ideas?
Oh for the time!

Anyone caught that C5 prog with Pete Waterman? Sadly the last episode yesterday, but I hope it’s repeated on council house telly (Satellite/Cable to our colonial friends) soon ‘cos it was really rather good!
Mr Waterman owns/owned the Flying Scotsman – One episode has him talking about getting death threats because he put the Flying Scotsman back to the original shade of green rather than the darker shade that BR had her in. From this I conclude:
1/ He’s not all that bad – but I could only forgive him for crimes against music if he were doing the same for aviation 🙂 (Kylie excepted of course)
2/ Railway enthusiasts are worse anoraks than we are!
