Of course, there is a very very easy way to never get nagged – just do as you are told the first time! How difficult can that be? Well, go on, tell me, just how difficult? Huh? How many times have I got to ask you? Now don’t look the other way when I’m asking you a question?

    Sorry dear 😉

Just imagine 3 women banging on in your ear all at the same time, think I’d want to end up pi$$ed in the kitchen on my own in that case, I can really now only cope with one at a time.

And there speaks the voice of experiance 😀 Do women nag more as they get older or do we men just have less tolerance as we mature (ducks and runs)? Although I’m sure present forum company is excepted as thier brains are full of important flying stuff rather than telling thier menfolk off for wanting to fly rather than decorate the house again..

It is a quiet museum, but rather good (I can see it from my office window!).

Luck of the draw with the Airport – sometimes Air Atlantique are flying all the time, but recently they’ve been very quiet (DC3’s and 6’s used to be constant).

Last time I was in the museum, it was pouring with rain so I’ve no idea on views from there (and as I live under the Base/Finals turn I tend not to worry!).

I like CC books (great for poolside/long journeys), but I was looking for “inspirational” flying books. You know, the ones that make you feel like you’re up there and fill you with the urge to fly or at least learn to fly, and be part of the brotherhood of the air (bleargh, I can’t believe I wrote that!).

As an outsider/wannabe it doesn’e strike me as being a very robust way of operating, especially as the AAIB and CAA are showing a lot of interest in accidents caused by runaway aircraft and hand swinging of props.

It’s a case of familiarity breeding contempt – if you’re lucky you’ll get a scare with no-one hurt. A bit like a certain person not a million miles from this keyboard who thought that he’d lost his left index finger yesterday after taking liberties with a power planer (and was most surprised to see it still there with no blood!).

anything by Dale Brown especially Storming Heaven (has about twenty titles)

Flight of the Old Dog is a good read.

Might one introduce Flight of the Intruder by Stephen Coonts?

anything by Richard Herman personnal favourite is his first Warbirds

Quite good – got a little irritated by his habit of killing off lead characters 🙂

My final offering for now – Chickenhawk (Robert Mason). Almost enough to tempt one into an egg beater.

I forgot to put The Shephard in – it was one of the books that sprang to mind when I thought of this thread while supping ale on Saturday night!

There’s 2 books by Laddie Lucas (Wings of War and another about luck while combat flying) that are worth a look.

Have read Sigh for a Merlin and can recommend it and there’s a novel by Arthur C Clarke about the development of GCA radar which is very good. Tumult in the Clouds by James Goodson is very good and also The Fall of Fortresses is a stunning piece of writing.

To be fair I should have said “introduced” as I’ve nicked it from another forum :p

Nice writing btw Steve – should have said that first time around 🙂

Hmm.. It’s not me either. But I think I might be able to discredit El Mogerator’s evidence when I’ve fixed my PC at home (we had a power cut yesterday and the poor old thing won’t switch on any more).

It’s down to Janie and her mission to EGBO I reckon. I’d drive up to say hello but we’re off on our hols that weekend and I don’t think it would go down too well wiv Da Management.

So that’s leave house and turn left.

Ok, that’s close enough to get to without wings so it’s in my diary.

Seeing as there seem to be so many airstrips etc out there, WHY IS FLYING SO BLOOMIN’ EXPENSIVE! 😉
