Pity, I did see some trident cockpit parts on ebay last year, yokes and instruments etc, wondered if that was them? I suppose if it was a SPT (Standard Proceedures Trainer) it may not have had a cockpit shell as such?

According to a caption in the book The Jet Age by Robert Serling, the triangular design was to maximize the passenger’s view downward while minimizing stress on the fuselage around the window.

Great Book! Fantastic story and pictures about the Pan Am 707 that landed near San Fransisco with 3 engines and 20 foot of it’s outer wing missing!

PAA 704, The Pilot was Captian Kime. WE picked up parts all over South City that evening. The wing came down between two trees that supported it on its side. The Engine came down in a machine Shop.Boeing came to Travis and rebuilt the Aircraft.” Eugene Hollingsworth.

Thanks for all this, seems to have had an interesting past, from what I saw it seemed to be an old airport lost in time, such a shame it will be made way for a car park. Thanks for all the info…

I know of a case where a man (illegal overstayer) was wanted for murder, he went on the run for 6 months, while on the run rom the Police he got a girl pregnant. He was eventually caught by Police and after a court trial found guilty at Crown Court. After he serves his 14 year life sentence (which will be less for good behaviour) he will be allowed to remain in this country due to the unborn child having the right to have a father. Nice one! Lesson here is if you are not entitled to be in this country and committ a serious crime make sure you inpregnate a girl before the authorities catch up with you.
    Sad story but true.

Discipline (obviously not to that extreme!) is the Answer. And it all starts at home with the parents and also in the school. Teachers and parents need more support from the community. There is a mega break down with the young in society at the moment and we wonder why?
Hoodies, gangs, disprespect for elders and Knives and crime are all the fashion at the moment. It’s not working and how for how long do we reason with these kids giving them excuses all the time.

Sorry but this thread can be closed, I entered it in error on this forum (sub section) and have now moved it to the historic section. Thanks!

I remember being at Manchester years back (late 1970’s) when the folk singer John Denver arrived in a Lockheed Electra, not to sure if he owned this or just leased it for the tour.

Elvis Presley had a Convair 880 N8809E named after his daughter “Lisa Marie” and a Lockheed Jetstar 6 N777EP both still preserved at Gracelands.

Apart from the static Trident, was there ever a Trident sim/cockpit at the AVP at some time?
