Good idea, it would be good PR if possible to have some sort of open day (if feasible) around the old girl. Show people around the aircraft, perhaps tie in an engine test run of some sort, an opportunity to talk about the project. It no doubt would generate a lot of ‘positive’ interest and get the ball rolling. (Just a thought as I wish the project well).
Guppy to the Sky !
All those working on her I wish you all best of luck, just to see it fly one more time would be an achievement. I will contribute to the cause.
Would be interesting to see if his collection has gone there. Ken was always a keen attender at the Newark aerojumble.
Thanks Newforest for the link, this provides some update, great photos of the cockpits especially the Meteor nightfighter in the farmers barn. Hopefully the cockpits wil get a good clean up, according to the news article (albeit some months old) it looks like the collection may go to a permanent home in a Scottish museum, anyone know which one?
Ken Ward appears to have dropped off the radar since finding himself in hot water. He was always a regular at the aerojumbles, has anyone seen him recently? As stated above the last I publically heard was that he was going to partner up with Bomphoons to create a museum to properly display his unique collection, not sure if this ever materialised or not. He also did have a number of cockpits dotted around the country including a Victor and Vulcan not to mention a few others.
I suppose the added benefit of mentioning it on this forum (and we all know that NAM frequently check the posts) is that it also helps others who potentially could have purchased this item thinking it was and I quote these words from the advert ‘VERY RARE and ORIGINAL engine plaque’. It’s only through these open discussions that we can find out what it really is, in this case it’s just a bespoke museum display plaque with no real aviation provenance.
Grumman S2A Tracker, this one unusual as it appears to possibly have original cap

Nice control wheel Hatinthering, is that an original cap you have on the wheel? If so could you provide a photo of the underside of the cap? I am interested to see if there is any difference between original caps and copies. Personally I would keep the switch blocks black, I agree that the presentation of the wheel does look more attractive with shiny polished brass blocks and a lot of Constellation wheels with fair usage did wear down the paint work on their switch blocks to expose the brass, but for me originality overrides everything (just an opinion). What is the long number on the back of your wheel? I am curious to see if the Constellations and the Neptunes had different serial numbers.
F84 / F86 column if anyone has got the grip to attach to it

Good work there Swifter, nice restoration job. There seems to be so many good copies of hub caps out there right now it’s difficult to tell the original from the copy, do you have any observations or tips when purchasing hub caps ?
Thanks for the possible I’d Rocketeer. Yep Ian there’s no finesse with Russian stuff, they just do exactly what it says on the tin.
For those with a B47 control yoke have you seen the hub cap on eBay as a buy it now?! I believe that these are rarer than the yoke itself !
