Fantastic old ship..used to see them on observation flights around Northern Ireland a long long time ago…
ahhhh the thrill of hearing that delightful rumble !!
Democracy but not as WE know it.
With regards to Phixer’s posts it seems that there are more and more people questioning the official version of the events on 9/11, certainly on this side of the atlantic. This is typified by this article about 9/11 that appeared in the independent a couple of weeks ago.
http://news.independent.co.uk/fisk/article2893860.ece
But dont you know that to some the President is always right even when he is wrong???? whats the term i am looking for ” My country right or wrong ” or something along that line !
Robert Fisk is of course one of the UK’s most respected journalists and certainly not someone to shoot from the hip…………………
Probably a liberal pinko commie loving left winger who doesnt know what he is on about ’cause he aint on Fox….. :diablo:
Most people do not trust official sources, and following the ‘intelligence failures’ to do with weapons of mass destruction that lead to the current fiasco in Iraq, probably with good reason.
To be honest i have long felt the term Intelligence as used by the likes of MI5, CIA & FBI is a direct contradiction of the word….For intelligencesubstitute lies or BS !
With regards to deleting post due to offence I have always found the following;
Do you not know that I live by war, and that peace would be my undoing? -Sir John Hawkwood.
in SealordLawarence’s signature particularly offensive, as I believe one would have to be a particularly sick individual to prefer war to peace.
Not if you were a neo con !! anyway better to let any newbie be prewarned dont you think..for-warned is for-armed 😀 but pref not with an AK-47 for hunting rabbits  !!
anyway you wouldnt want the good ole boy to change would you?? life would get very boring !! Wouldnt be worth my while coming back home every so often…no entertainment 😀
Further to ask for something to be deleted because one finds it offensive goes against the principle of free speech, so cherished in the west and especially the USA.
Ahhh but only if the US agrees with you…democracy only counts when it is their favour…IF they were so worried about democracy what about Myanmar,Zimbabwe, Saudi etc….why no invasion????
Finally if what Phixer says has no validatity it won’t stand; if it has validity the number of questions and people asking them will continue to increase – and eventually the truth will emerge.
No no no Steve questions are not allowed..you accept what they say…dont dare question the almighty Bush.

Hypocrisy & disgrace
First up i dont know enough to completely debunk the Conspiracy theories that have been part of the debate more or less since this horrid event occurred.
What i do wonder about is why so many of those who champion freedom of speech and democracy ( ok a warped version of democracy but democracy non the less) are so quick to try and shout down anyone questioning the government line ?
why are they so quick to start claim dishonor of “their” 3000+ dead to try and deny someone’s freedom of speech and freedom of thought?
Why are they so scared by someone wanting to delve a bit deeper?
Debate is the basis of democracy, acceptance of opposing views is essential.
No i dont think there was a conspiracy or at least not all of what happened was a conspricy…
Where i see a conspiracy is the events immediately afterwards..the flight of the Bin Laden family for one and the way the attack was used by the President and others for their own ends.
And the disgrace ? the disgrace is that so many innocent deaths were used to further the desires of a less than reputable US administration who lied again and again ( WMD , Iraqi links to al qaeda , etc etc etc ), used the deaths as an excuse to invade a country for no other reason than greed .

A lot of scrapyards , automotive as well as aviation based, have had to close down due to the problem of getting rid of various noxious/dangerous products of the dismanttling process ! The old Eco issue again you see !
There used to be approx 10 auto breakers in my immediate area now there are two.none of these have proven to be usefull for building development and are just waste areas with a distinct aroma of oil, petrol and burnt rubber to set them apart!
Now you have to travel for miles for that Ford Sierra gearbox !!
I know i was being sarcastic, it was like if he was good at snooker i would have said he made “Steve Davis ” look lke a amatuer, or football ,Beckham, or invention and science i would have picked Einstien !! 🙁
i was being ironic, yes i appreciate mr Vizzard is one of the best and will allways be so,and famous others ,
if you read into it i actually named Steve Vizzard because he was/is one of the best, 😀
God your a touchy lot,any body think i had Blasphemed , next you will be shouting “STONE HIM” 😮 😮 🙁
Merkle,
Blasphemy is allowed ..Heresy isnt !!! :dev2:
old school tie thinking is very prevelent amongst some (thankfully only a few !) on this forum…all kinds of change or different thinking is bad you see !!! 😮
Never thought i would have to write this
Words cant describe what i am feeling at the moment.
Proud to be a Scot he had such talent and sheer skill that it beggered belief he could litterally take a lump of iron and steel and make it dance.I saw the young Colin take the first steps that led to the top of what is undoubtedly the best and most entertaining form of motorsport bar none.
We will never know his like again.
To his wife Alison ,his daughter Hollie Words are never ever going to be enough. My heart goes out to them. I just dont know what to say.
His father Jimmy ,who I watched for many years, was and is a gent and to him, Colins mother Margaret ,Brother Alister and the rest of the family, my heart felt sympathy and condolances ..to lose such a son is awful but to lose your grandchild as well is beyond comprehension.
To Colin & Johnny and those others who have died RIP
The loss of the A/c is totaly imaterial:mad: i , as many other did lost a freind and flying college who was a loverly loverly man, and a wife lost her devoted husband. i still canot belive it:( My sincerest condolences to all, the name will be realesed in due coarse in the correct way. This has hit me hard as 37 years ago to the day my own father was killed in a similar accident:(
Please keep this civil and to the point and donot decend into amature accident investigation.
I will raise a glass tonight, RIP my freind:(
What an awful day …I am sure everyone here would ask that you pass on our sympathies and condolences to the family. Our thoughts are with them at this horrendous day
I am sure that this is a very tough time for you given your father’s death and now that of a close friend..Our thoughts are also with you and the friends and colleagues of the deceased.
Presentations of history do need to be corrected from time to time as new information or discoveries come availabile…any Museum trying to be good will do their best to stay aware of new information and do their best to include it.
What I hate are those that try to alter history in spite of the facts.

Good point well said !
and then you see muppets like these clowns…talk about revisionism and/or ignoring the real lessons of history;
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article2327844.ece
So they werent really that bad? so they didnt round up POWS/innocent civilians/ men, women & kids and shoot/gas/burn them ? who would want to hide or ignore what they did? ignore their sins and live their life???
Why oh why would anyone want to glorify this bunch of murdering scum???
What is soo glorious about the Third Reich that 80% of re-enactors want to be German and a lot of them want to be SS ???? Why ?????
This is one kind of revisionism they can stick where the sun dont shine!
At last …home
Hopefully ………
Another Hero gone…
RIP
There was a derelict Argosy sitting there in 1975- and a 2 seat Meteor. I think I also remember an engineless Varsity sitting on its tail….
and another childhood mystery solved!!!! 😀
Definitely wasn’t the Argosy …It must have been the Varsity as i seem to remember a relatively bulbous rounded fuselage !….fat isnt PC is it?
seem to rember that there was a small no through road that allowed you to get relatively close to it but this was then closed off as the troubles got worse.
Thanks for the info !
Mentioned somewhere else on the forum but there was/is apparently a twin somewhere in Lough Neigh which used to cause ( and poss still does !) erroneous reports from overflights to Aldergrove ATC of an aircraft down in the lough !
I have heard that it was dived on and identified as a twin by Army (?) divers some years ago , that they went back later and couldn’t find it again
There are several scuttled Cats and the wreak of at least one Sunderland in Lough Erne.
and the old chestnut…a Spitfire in the Silent Valley reservoir :diablo: !
Have to agree with the theory of giving a wider view and allowing the individual to make their own decision as to what they believe.
We need to avoid the modern day revisionism that is so prevalent from those who live with the benefits of freedom earned by all those who fought on the allied side of WW2. But then we have to remember that some of the perceptions and “history” as accepted during and soon after the war has proven to be inaccurate . How do we maintain a fair balance ?
No one can deny that the Allies were fighting an incredibly evil enemy that had to be destroyed …No amount of revisionism can change those very basic facts
let us hope that we never forget that.
