    WHY????

Have to agree with the reinstatement of this now blocked tread.

The behavior of some people, who have at times acted as if they are the chosen few, has been a revelation.I am also seriously disappointed with the language and contributions of certain people whom I have respected previously.Yes Mr Williams may have gone OTT at times but it would seen that provocation is the name of the game on the Badar tread.

Quite frankly it is tantimount to bullying at times, downright slander at others, and some of this directed at an elderly gentleman who has a different point of view and , fair dues to him, seems to be quite capable of giving as good as he gets, before the “powers that be” decide that he should be shut up for standing up for himself .

What was the point of fighting a war for freedom of speach and thought if this is the reaction to someone who dares to be different and will not tow the party line?

Now there may well be a history from previous times on this forum, we have heard various references to same, but for god’s sake cant you let the past stay in the past where it belongs?

And who moderates the moderators in these instances ????

Very moving story…..thanks for sharing it with us.

May those who fought for freedom never be forgotten in our prayers or our thanks.

It’s always worth remembering that throughout the recent troubles politicians, media and especially the military conveniently ‘forgot’ that Irish republicans (including the IRA) had already defeated us British in the early 1920’s.

    Steve.

    Steve,

think it has to be said that it was at best a draw..Michael Collins who played a major part in the negotiations is said to have claimed that Lloyd George promised all out war if the Treaty was rejected….Eire was after all to remain within the British empire….

i think it was a British public tired after the slaughter of 14/18 who couldnt face more deaths …and an Irish public who were scared of what might have happened…

and as I type I see that Lt.Col.Clancy a veteran of the War of Independance and the civil war that followed has died today at age 105…RIP

“If we had no business being in Vietnam to help an ally, then we had no business being in Europe during WWII. All that effort has gotten us is a massive Cold War debt. Besides, I thought we were supposed to sit on our hands and not get involved in other people’s business?”

think we have been here before ?

By 1940 in Europe legitimate ,and i think you would have to agree, by and large honest elected governments and states had been overrun by a meglo maniac who set about ethnic cleansing those he designated unsuitable.. and he wouldnt have stopped there…..Linking up with his Italian and Japanese allies eventually America would have been in danger. So it deffo was in Americas best interest in get involved!

But Vietnam? a corrupt and questionable government? A people without a real choice?

Enjoy those happy thoughts. You all have until 2016, when I’ll be eligible to run :diablo:

The British Imperials were well known for their delaying-tactics politics or whatever is the right word.

and one of their modern day successors aka John Major played the very same selfish and dangerous game with the Northern Ireland peace process, playing up to the Unionists, in his last desperate attempt to stay in power .

sometime someone will remind us of how many morfe deaths this caused… 😡

And if it’s not a state-sponsored/directed terrorist group, nobody would have to worry about me tossing nuclear warheads around.

Good…now all you have to do is raise billions and get yourself elected!!!

We haven’t used nuclear weapons since 1945. That doesn’t mean we don’t have any more of them. Plus, Saddam didn’t use them in 1991 either, when he most definitely DID have them. Why didn’t he use them then either? Plus, when we were outside Baghdad, he might have considered that he’d potentially be gassing himself as well.

WMD? GAS? he prob figured out that in ’91 it wouldnt be much use against well prepared ,well trained combat troops .

Anyway…( more conspiracy theories!!) maybe just maybe he knew his old pal’s Rumsfeld, Chaney and Bush the older wouldnt oust him completely…just turf him out of Kuwait?…..Why did they stop in ’91 by the way??

doubt if there was any such asssurance with Baby Bush’s expedition….

and i doubt if he would give two tinker’s damns abpout gassing his own people in those last desperate days as the Yanks raced up the road to Bagdad!!!
