Hi Mark,I believe you might find a pic in one of the Warbirds Worldwide mags,I’m not sure what issue though. The machine appears to be well travelled, since going to K.Weeks and then on to somewhere closer to me!Cheers,Pete
Jeeze, what is it with some of you people, did Santa miss you or are you bitter 100% of the time.I regularly read this forum but almost never post due to the attitudes of some of you who seem to delight in ridiculing any poster who has less than 2000 posts and asks something you “experts” consider irrelevent.I often read Ollies posts and,if I find them irritating, just move on to another. How do you suppose Ollie will learn without asking?I have a son who is autistic,he is not stupid, but he does ask different questions,do you see my point? To Rich 82,MJR,Airgage,&EN830,and the rest of you informed people, get a life or at least impart your knowledge in a tolerant manner or this forum will continue to lose the great cross section of people it once had.NOW,bring on the flamers,Happy New Year,Pete Bradley
Hi all, sitting here watching the shuttle blast off whilst checking the latest posts, just stunned by the post from Snapper and the tributes that followed. My heartfelt condolensces to his fiancee Julie and to young Haydn. From the pics shown I am sure he will have many great memories of his Dad.Sincere regards,Pete Bradley,Australia
Hi All,I was watching the one day match between The Aussies & The Poms at about 2.30 Darwin time and the cameras covering the game started focusing on the aircraft flying overhead. The footage of B-17’s,B-25’s,etc was excellant but I was really surprised at the reception from the crowd to the Spitfire,Hurricane,& Lancaster. All ages of people started applauding and began to stand as the three flew over the ground,in this day & age where most of the ‘younger’ generations don’t even know what these aeroplanes are I found it heartening that the sight of symbols of a 60 year ago war were recognized in such a way.My two cents,Best Regards,Pete
Dare I ask, what P-39 issues? Can’t wait for Legends & the photos some of you are willing to post. Thanks in advance,Pete.
Hi All,great pics, did the IAC operate any single seat Spits in the same scheme or any other? If so,does anyone have any pics of them?Cheers,Pete
Hi BentBlue,I emailed Peter Croser just before xmas to ask how the rebuild was progressing,to date I have not had a reply. The last email I received from him discussed work continuing on the wings after their receipt of the spars & leading edges.Maybe Setter has some more info(calling Setter, come in please)regards,Pete
50%,Hell!!!Bruce,you will start another international debate on replicasreconstructions. Please,we don’t want to go there again.IMO,joe public can sometimes appreciate “a pile of red rusted junk” more as living proof of what people gave in order for us to live our lives the way we do now.Perhaps museum resources can be better used to preserve airframes that are not in as bad condition.Best regards for the new year,Pete
Hi Steve,do you need some help with the Fury,I’m a good worker, honest,I haven’t had a chance to air my BA sockets since I did some work on Fury 115 before it left Aust and all I have to work on now are some measly BAE 146’s(whinge & moan!!!)Its nice to see a hanger with real aeroplanes in it.Could we have some more Fury pics please, possibly of the engine installation.Best Regards,Pete
YEEEEEHHAAAAAA!!!!Look forward to some pics to whet my appetite.Best wishes to the RNHF crew on the continued safe operation from here on in.Pete
Sorry Stringbag,Baby Gorilla was purchased by Paul Morgan and flown until his unfortunate loss in it.Paul was,I believe, looking into the remanufacture of sleeves which is the critical shortage with the Centaurus so I guess this has stopped. There must be some sort of supply around as most Furies have been converted to R-3350,what did TFC use?Cheers,Pete
Hi Steve, best wishes on the continued safe flight of your Sea Fury, they really are an awesome machine.I remember flying with the late Guido Zuccoli in Fury 308 before he returned it to single seat status. We flew a few circuits of Darwin airport and then did a low level pass down the runway below tower height. In his words,”this is what Reno is like!!!”I’m very partial to Aussie markings, especially those on the ex P.Morgan fury.Regards,Pete
Hi T’nut, what news?Do you refer to the requirement to remove the engine & disassemble it again?Regards,Pete
Hi Rob,Dave & enthusiasts,I work part time on the Corsair so can give you a quick update. Most of the structural work has been completed including extensive reskinning on the wings, reskinning the tailplanes due to exhaust gas corrosion inside, remanufacture of elevaters, etc. As most parts on the Corsair are unique it has been very difficult to find a good supply however the boss has over time developed some good contacts. At the moment we are manufacturing the RH lower oil cooler/air inlet duct panel which is fairly complex and are progressing with systems installations. All of the landing gear is installed as is the miles of hydraulic tubing and the bulk of the flight control systems. As far as I know there is no set delivery date but I will ask Nobby if he minds me posting a few pics, regards,Pete
Ditto Allan,I’m with you.As I said in a post last night you folks in the U.K. really have no reason to complain.Considering the lineup at Legends and the other airshows you all have a fantastic season in which to see a huge variety of types. Please,Guys, show a little tolerance and call the positives,Congrats on a SAFE weekend,Pete
