I think Valletas too

Yes, that serial would have put it firmly at Wittering, 36 to 38, and the nose on type is an Audax.
John
Well that was the end of that one, struck off charge after turning over whilst taxying in the desert after a forced landing. June 1936 K File.
John
Sorted. It went to South Africa in 1930 and arrived at Shaibah in 1934 under the ownership of F/L Wheelwright (Jackson) so the pic is between Feb 1934 to Jan 1935.

Avian Mk IVM. G-ACNK IT had a Genet Major (when I first saw it I wondered ?)It was registered to P/O Wilfred Neil Stubbs of 84 Sqn (31/1/36)and went to Nigeria in 1939. (GINFO) The a/c behind are Wapitis which gives us a puzzle because the books say 84 swapped it’s Wapitis for Vincents in Jan 1935.
John
Yes it’s an Avian, I’ll come back to you on this one.
All the best to all the forum members.

The fact that there may be more to come is great to hear, but may I again make the plea for high res scans as this will give us more clues immediately.
I am sure that for instance in the last Shaibah photos there is a light plane in the background which needs identifying, or, we are not getting the total picture. If they can’t be scanned hi res, can some one put a magnifying glass on them please for any serials etc.

A very poor photo of DNL taken at Yeadon I believe.

One from my collection, but don’t know where it was taken.
Also would anyone have any idea as to the identity of an Auster that lived on a farm strip at the back of RAF Cranwell in the very early 60’s. It was owned by a farmer and I had a very interesting low level trip in it over the gentlemans land one afternoon when I was a member of the club at Cranwell.
Note this Autocar wasn’t it.
Well, with GINFO I have answered some of my own questions G-AOIY is still around, though now with a Lycoming engine.

I note that the rank of the pilot is given as PII which if I recall is an NCO pilot rank so not the Hanna you are thinking of. Are there any more pics to come?
John
One my son took over Northern Iraq a few years ago.
John
Again, thank you for the returns on this. It is amazing what there is out there.
