I had heard of the book but never made the connection re the surname. Yet another promising life…

I wonder what the surviving Barclay family thinks now? My Dad has had a Barclay’s account since he was quite young and I’ve always had a bit of reverence for the ‘institution’. Quite naive of me really.

Did the Peugeot 406 coupe as I recall. Well, it had a Pininfarina badge.

Thanks, Dave, I need to update my downloads for the WONZ show. My favourite to date has been Alan Peart’s little chat as we’ve kept in touch since discussing his book.

Old Warden is the epitome of vintage flying. The perfect setting run with the perfect mix of heart and professionalism by truly fine people. I saw my first flying Spitfire there back in ’99 and while I haven’t been back to the UK for longer than three days since, the memories are as strong as ever.

Thanks for the thread, seafuryfan, and thanks for the link, Mike J.

Was just talking about this with a friend who asked about The Silver Spitfire on my Facebook book review page. She had found the same cover but with no Dam Buster reference. I went to Amazon while looking for more detail on the book and choked on my coffee. Mind you, Kristen also mentioned both the publisher and Book Depository had spelt his surname as Neill in various places.

Have to admit I hadn’t heard of anything the book mentions (and wasn’t 100% sure about it given the stuff-up on the cover) so it’ll be interesting to find out more. Reminded me I don’t have any Neil books so… 😉
