Lovely shot, Gaz. She looks superb.
Thanks to the BBMF for what you do. You never cease to amaze and impress.
Andy;
Having worked for Ian Allan, I can say that there isn’t any direct connection between Pen & Sword and Ian Allan. However, a lot of authors and editors etc seem to regularly swap between publishers. Publishing is, it seems, a very incestuous business.
Thanks, Steve, it occurred to me I might have been thinking of Patrick Stephens. As you say, though, very incestuous.
Please forgive the silly question but I’ve often wondered if there is a connection with Pen & Sword Publishing. I can’t quote examples but I’ve noticed several crossovers in the aviation titles (or maybe it’s just the reprinting of older titles).
Quite the historic document even if they aren’t Spotter pilots. That would be something to see.
Thanks, Yorkie, I appreciate it. Will certainly add those to the stash (at the moment I’m more of a box collector than a builder!).
Thanks, Paul, I’ve got some of the re-boxed old stuff but only because they were new and cheap and types I wanted to build/procrastinate over. I keep an eye on the ads in Flypast etc that say “new tooling” or words to that effect!
Lovely, stuff, Yorkie. How’s the fit and overall quality? Have been eyeing off some of the new Airfix kits.
Any idea who/what bought the medals, Paul?
It is a very good doco, Bill, and very well done. I bought the DVD in the Albury ABC Shop about 18 months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it particularly your work in documenting Cliff’s pre-war life. Lump in the throat stuff as the viewer gets to ‘know’ Cliff reasonably well.
Viking Spitfire, the book about Finn Thorsager mentioned earlier in this thread, was published earlier this year by Fonthill Media – http://www.fonthillmedia.com/shop/article_978-1-78155-043-4/Viking . It is effectively, I believe, the english language version of Tor Idar Larsen’s Norwegian Gladiator. A very nicely put-together book.
Same here, Andys. My heart rose when I saw the crash site when the first pics were published and then sank when I thought of the pilot having to possibly walk out. I’ve avidly followed the story but been unable to put my thoughts into the right words that hadn’t already been said.
Thank you to everyone who is working on the recovery of Copping’s remains. A friend mentioned to me the other day he had been stonewalled by lack of interest in recovering remains from a shallow lake here in Australia. I am inspired to see if I can do something.
Good pics, Pagen01. Was just watching 282, on an Ice Pilots episode (last season? current season?), give Scott Blue his initiation to waterbombing.
Wonderful stuff, DCW, especially the most recent Malta pics (will get there one day, love the place, never been!) and the XIX being rolled out. Must make the time to go through this thread from the start.
