The Daily Fail has finally caught up with the story. seems there have been two bids on E Bay for the Atlantic crossing.
Trans Atlantic Lancaster flight. 40,000 Canadian Dollars anyone?
Wiki has some info.

I was thinking more simple economics. restore Lancasters in one place, rather than two. As I said it was only a thought.
JUST a thought, but if this a hangar especially built for a rebuild of a Lancaster, would it not make sense for it to be used for a rebuild of a second Lancaster immediately afterwards……………
Another doggie story some may enjoy.
To add to creaking door’s link, as he says it’s not that straight forward,
Pranger – Attack Mohne
Nigger – Mohne breached, divert to Eder
Dinghy – (yes, as in a small boat!) – Eder breached, divert to Sorpe
Danger – Attack Lister
Edward – Attack Ennepe
Fraser – Attack Diemel
Gilbert – Attack last resort targets
Goner- Weapon released
Mason – All crews return to base
And then the Alpha Numerical Codes for the targets and the “Goner 1-10” as per his link. Or indeed “Goner 68” meaning Weapon released, exploded 5yds from dam and no apparent breach.
Can I add to the above, all brilliant accounts, also the recent James Holland “Dam Busters” book.
CWHM haven’t officially announced anything yet…..
Isn’t there a USAF or USN squadron known as the Dambusters – a battle honour won in Korea IIRC.
Yes, US Navy’s VFA-195. Currently fly the FA18 Super Hornet. They attacked a dam in North Korea in 1951 using torpedoes dropped from Skyraiders.
Joe McCarthy and his crew would be a good one, and he was an American!

“What do you mean we started it. It was you who invaded Poland!” Basil Fawlty circa 1977.
Forgot to say, as I write this I happened to be in the bar of the Petwood Hotel, complete with prints of the Tirpitz raid!
Despite the sarcasm and cynicism about the title, a very good programme. good to see the Late Tony Iveson. Lets not knock the TV companies when they do produce something like this…and the reason for the title was indeed explained!
