It is, haven’t you heard? Trials with Typhoon + Meteor are well under way.
I think Kovy knows. Language issue.
I for one don’t think that the Rafale needs a bigger array.
I for one don’t think that the Rafale needs a 90kn engine until the AESA conformal arrays are integrated during MLU.
Nic
Except that Dassault need to sell abroad to get his R&D investments back.
I do not imply you’re inventing it. I just missed it.
which is why some may consider M2000 as being the better buy (see M2000 vs Rafale thread), because it could do most of the jobs Rafale does, but with much lower operating costs, easier maintenance, and good acceleration.
ROFL
Rafale is such a bad idea… lol
Dude, Rafale’s maintainance cost is comparable to Mirage’s, only 10% higher while being a twin engine. You may personaly prefer numerical superiority but while you think a M2000 can do most of what Rafale does, here in France, people KNOW that one Rafale can do better than several Mirage.
Rafale is made to replace several types with less aircraft. And according to its operators, it works.
In some of the earlier posts by Rafale fans/supporters, it was said that Dassault is already making a profit/ breaking-even with sales to its launch customers (French forces).
Who ? Where ?
Absurd !
Since then it still hasn’t flown. I wonder what went wrong.
It’s not because it hasn’t happened yet that you can conclude something went wrong.
Why would I ?
No problem. 😉
amazing stuff! no Typhoon casualties then……:D
This explains so well the Eurofighter’s marketing trolling ! 😀
surely rafale could escort itself!:eek::D:confused::rolleyes:
I know it was humour, but :
«Rafale strike and recce missions
are always conducted without
any dedicated escort, our RBE2
radar, our Link 16, our FSO and
our Spectra electronic warfare
suite helping us maintain a very
good all-round situational aware-ness, explains the Armée de l’Air
Rafale detachment commander.

:D;)
@Spitfire : please read my previous answer about the already posted article you quote.
So they say it’s not a requirement : there is no need to replace the M2000. They are unhappy with our offer to replace M2000 with Rafale, a replacement which is not required.
This is why they threaten us to pick Typhoon instead, while there is no requirement…
I don’t really get it…
By the way, people at Dassault find this ultimatum inconsistent with the last events of the negociation. They had the feeling that they had worked very caustiously for 3 years on this offer together with the UAE, and now, they would reject everything ? Just by comparing a long work with the first attempt from EADS ? How frustrating…
I don’t think Eurofighter can be confident here, But business wise I would think that Eurofighter low ball their offer to UAE just to screw with Dassault.:dev2:

Dassault’s shares closed almost 8 percent down on Wednesday following the United Arab Emirates’ statement. (Reporting By John Irish and Elizabeth Pineau)
Your hypothesis is mine too. Hence my new avatar.
Ah wouldn’t you love to be a fly on the wall at those Dassault and Eurofighter meetings, I think my French vocabulary would be expanded greatly.:diablo:

It sounds like a good idea ! Wait a minute !
Or maybe Dassault negotiators are bad… 🙁

Rafale warplane deal stalled, UAE says proposal ‘unworkable’
“Thanks to President (Nicolas) Sarkozy, France could not have done more diplomatically or politically to secure the Rafale deal,” Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, deputy of the country’s armed forces, said in a statement, adding that Sarkozy’s “personal intervention in this process has sustained Dassault at the forefront of our considerations.”
“Regrettably Dassault seem unaware that all the diplomatic and political will in the world cannot overcome uncompetitive and unworkable commercial terms,” he said.
That’s what I call an ultimatum.
I think this shows one thing : we’re not far from an end. Happy or not.
EELightings forgot that when thirsty, one big glass of water plus one small glass is better than only the big glass.
Shame Dassault didn’t put as much effort into their negotiation skills! :diablo:
The Morocco incident has been disastrous to our negotiators’ reputation, for sure.
But maybe UAE negotiators are much more skilled than in Saudi Arabia, Austria, etc…
