I know I’m in a comfortable position to say so, but what matters is the fact that the job was done.;)

    Me too. 😀

But other members of the coalition would have been able to do it too, no ?

Marketing, marketing… Everybody trust France for marketing, suddenly forgetting we mess up a lot of deals.

Whatever. Today, Spectra has demonstrated it could do a great job in Lybia, by making the Rafale able to operate without SEAD and jammers support. It did impress during ATLC 2009 too (as conceded to me by our beloved anti-Rafale British journalist), and whatever it will succeed at, some people try to suggest that it might be on pare with DASS ?

But what DASS has demonstrated so far ? We know nothing.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe in active cancellation (and to answer someone : no we haven’t anything concrete about this), I’m not saying DASS is crap.

But out of any marketing, Spectra is proving itself, and I’m under the impression that some are trying to take half of the credit in claiming (with little information about DASS) that both system are on pare.

    @ BW :
I totally understand that you don’t like it, but I answered this to someone who spent some efforts just to say to you :

    Its still, well sorry, ridiculous.

After all, you’re not flooding. You have your arguments, you’re motivated by an extreme faith, because you may know things you can’t even talk about.

Half of the problem as I see it is the other’s reaction to your messages.

I’ve no time to tell you more. We should go on elsewhere, later, Fred.

    This is weird.
Officially, the IRST was made by Sagem, and is no longer produced. I’ve seen nothing new about a replacement by Thales…

The end is very interesting too :

In addition to the electronics, they praise the comfort of their seat and its semi-reclined position, the effectiveness of the cockpit air conditioning (“I’ve never seen any condensation,” says one pilot) and the ease of adapting to the side-stick controller which, on Rafale, replaces the conventional central control stick. These are not necessarily major aspects, notes one pilot, “but after a few days of high-intensity combat, a Rafale pilot will be in much better shape than one flying another aircraft.”

Usually, the tilted seat is said to help coping with high G manoeuvres, but is also is of importance during long campaigns, and for the first time, this argument is in the foreground.

There are a lot of interesting parts in this article. Really worth reading it.

    EELighting… I understand your PoV.

I think it’s really a pity since French here know “certain English (etc) members claimed their Typhoon was “superior in every way” to the Rafale without any evidence…

    😀

Why do some people jump on any argument to say that India should distrust the other side ?

just my 2ct and everything is based on what I gathered about each respective system and my understanding of the technology itself.

IMO, you can bet more than 2cts on this. I totally agree with you here.

Now suppose that the Rafale is actually superior to the Thyphoon? (something I believe perfectly possible), how one is supposed to say it?

    Why saying it ?

Now you can argue that it’s useless to try, which I would agree too.
But let’s admit that it’s then another debat and it’s not easy to treat as trolls those who want to try their chance.

Except that those who want to try their chance should know that this attitude is no good for a forum, even if their intentions aren’t bad.

Just thought it would be useful to have a thread for this, rather than the Rafale, Typhoon and MMRCA threads being used by those trying to prove that the aircraft they “support” is incontestably better than the one they don’t.

Having different topics is interesting because in the topic of Typhoon, people talk about Typhoon facts and news, in the Rafale thread they talk about Rafale facts and news, etc.

So, IM(H or not)O, the problem is not the organisation of the forum and threads, but the people contributing to it (those who try “to prove that the aircraft they “support” is incontestably better than the one they don’t.”)

The Twinblade message here, for example, even for humour, is deeply boring me, since it shows what people may think about the opinion of French members. I don’t blame Twinblade though… Only the members who systematically try “to prove that the aircraft (Rafale) they “support” is incontestably better than the one they don’t (Typhoon).” I warned them once, and thus I retract since the mood is just awful.

I once was tired to see Rafale topics polluted by one anti-Rafale first-class liar member, and now, I’m tired to see years of efforts blown away by…. Oh, you know, no need to use names.

    @LMRaptor,
no that’s actually the combat radius they mistook for range. Range on internal fuel is given with 2500 – 2600 km.

What about the safety margin after such a flight ? How long can it keep airborn ?

It’s a matter of history. If you don’t accept what Scorpion told you, I can’t help.
