Used the search to find info on Woodfords Vulcan XM603. This was the latest thread, no news since 11th March, indeed not a single comment. Where has 603 been moved, I assume she is no longer visable from the golf course, but where is she parked and can she be seen or photographed from outside.
Strange that the story of XM603 seems to have ‘gone cold’ Even the thunder and lightning seach does not have up to date info and the Avro Hertiage website http://www.avroheritage.com does not mention her either.

With all the lamentations about the loss of the Ju-52 I believe the departure the Sea Vemon to be far worst. OK there are other Sea Vemons in UK Museums but IWM is the premier collection but the Sea Vemon can tell a story about British aviation, naval developement, and service history, besides what has been gained by selling the Sea Vemon ? Bet it never reached a high price, it required little if any maintance and certainly did not take up at lot of space. I could never understand why ‘for sale’ and not ‘for exchange’ unless I am missing something has IWM recieved anything in exchange for these airframes ? How about a Mig-15 or Su-22 ?

Re Colour scheme and permmission to fly in German colours. Whilst it was polite of you to write to the German Embassy surely the permission lies with the British CAA as IIRC you require a permit to fly wearing marking other than G-BMFG. Guess all the Spitfires have this permit and also the HA1112’s which fly wearing non authentic Luftwaffe markings. Suggest you apply to the CAA and see what thier response is, sadly I expect they will take the view that you have been told no once , so it is still no. If that happens, and you really like paper work. taking contacting the German Air Force, maybe one of our German speaking friends can help with translation and deciding which office / department to contact. Best of luck. Paul

Couple of questions for you. PM me if you prefer not to make answers public.
You are restoring the Sea Harrier airside at Bournmouth airport, do you have hangar space for the complete restoration or just container storage and out door working ? I assume access is restricted being airside.
If this a solo endevor or are you heading up a small group. What is the long term goal, once restoration complete, retain the SHAR, or loan to a museum ?

Wishing you the best of luck with a great project

Tried that and still waiting reply. Think some of the issues could have been resolved by giving the Forum users a warning that things were going to look different and a sticky ‘New Forum FAQ’ so the less computor literate amoung use can understand the meaning of the different colour envelopes. Personally I find the pastel colours very hard to read on my PC and the text is not ‘black’ enough.

Also I keep getting a pop up box asking if I want to go this trusted site and accept ‘ieframe.dll’ dispite saying yes I get asked the question again and again.

What stance do insurance companies take on such events ? Most likely would be happy to fork out a grand for a carpet or furniture, might event replace the damaged tank. Should be able to get some payment for the clean up.

Gerry. Try contacting your insurance company and see what they say, if you have a list get it priced, either via the Forum or searching Ebay or Amazon.

    Good luck

Interesting to read how the Lightning got to Singapore using tankers. Were the Gloster Javelin’s tankered out as well ? What about other non AAR types ? Also how were aircraft returned to the UK.

When did the first TFC Gladiator restoration fly and how many displays / flights did she have. Seem to remember she was grounded along with most of the TFC fleet due to paper work issues. Hope that these are now sorted.

“The Fibreglass one in the Brussels Museum looks fabulous, and nobody bats an eyelid.”

Totally agree, once an aircraft is hung up its original or otherwise condition is irrelevant, its internal condition or completeness can not be judged. It might as well be a plastic model. String up both a Hurricane and Spitfire, even a Me109, the general public will go “oooh ‘n aaah” and walk on by. Display the real thing, in its original finish but also tell the general public why its so important.

Started to watch Dark Blue World on Netflix the other night and could not find an ‘English’ version just Czech with sub titles. Silly question but was the film released in English ?

It still is the main gate, RAF St Mawgan is still going strong! & 795 is very well cared for by the Cornish Aviation Society

Not suggesting that the St Mawgan gate guard was in anyway uncared for, glad to hear a local group has been allowed to look after her whilst on MOD property. This thread started about moving a Shackleton to Airbase at St Mawgan, just think it a waste of time and money with a suitable airframe already on site, better to spend on saving and relocating other airframes.

    Can anybody answer two question
    1) what if any RAF present is there at St Mawgan today ?
    2) where will Airbase be located on the base and what access does the collection have ?

All this talk of moving a Shackleton to join the Airbase collection at St Mawgan is fine. But why dont they just take care of the one that guards the former main gate ? I am not sure where the new museum is located but could the Shackleton not be moved to within the collection museum area ?
