Are the plans for Lambeth to hang the Spitfire in a similar manner to previously ? Certainly hope not, it has been said many times that this aircraft is of special interest considering its condition. But IWM did not appear to have had any interest in displaying, however termporaraily, at Duxford, and it appears to have been returned to Lambeth in a similar condition to it was received. Surely a missed opertunity.

This has been mentioned before but some of these stored C-130s have excellent war records and it is a crying shame that one has been alocated to the IWM at Duxford from a quick reference to “Falklands Air War” XV196 one of the first aircraft used in the Falklands, fitted with extra long range fuel tanks it dropped supplies and special forces personnel to Task Force ships on route to South Atlantic in unrefuelled 18 hour missions. XV200 was the first C-130 fitted with an air refuelling probe and flew missions in excess of 6300mile and 24hours. Aircrew recieved medals flying his aircraft and nothing is being done to preserve it. Shamefull. I am sure some of these aircraft will have seen action in both Gulf wars and Afgan conflicts

Disregarding the pros and cons of letting the Typhoon leave UK for a short time. Where in Canada will it be going ???? Who knows it may even be displayed outside and people can get some decent photographs of it.

Congratutions for aquiring XV108, exactly how much has been delivered to East Midlands, have you got tails and engines ? Seems totally mad that XV108 could not have been flown to East Midlands and spares recovered there, then a whole aircraft could be preserved.

Sea Venom at Dux…. Doh !!! they sold it !!!!!!

Surely filming at the museum locations, with blue screen ect would be better than dragging aircraft to the film location ? As already meantioned Newark and Bruntingthorpe would appear to have suitable exhibits

Remember visting Sultan many years ago for a tour and pointed out to the guide that several of the Sea Kings in store were Falkland war veterans and purhaps efforts should be made to save them. Does anybody know which airframes are being disposed of and if any of the significant airframes are being either keep back or are available for purchase. Looks like the airframes for sale are badly stripped off spare parts, which sadly means hours of work to find and refitt the missing bits.

Great to these. Just as an aside, only last month did Fed Ex retire the last B727 from service, an incredable record.

Its been a long time since attending a Bruntingthorpe running day. So a couple of questions

    1) If the two lightning leave the QShed will they hold on the runway to allow enough time for the crowd to move to a postion by the runway ?
    2) How close to the runway and how far down the length of the runway are the public allowed, if there are a lot of people does the crowdline get full ?
    3) Is it possible to get a position at far end of the runway to get shots with the tail chute running ?
    4) Assume Canberra, Hunter, Bucc ect will be ‘filling in’ between 13.00 and 15.00, again is there time get from the start up ramp to a position on the runway.
    5) Are all the museum aircraft available to see and photograph in the morning ?

    Sorry for all the questions
    Paul

Any reason why you had to aquire and inport a Dutch F-104 ? Are there so few original RCAF ones in Canada ? Seem to remember see several dotted around Trenton area many years ago. After all the polishing hope she goes in doors.
